And by the way, the Monchichis are my brother's children during his first marriage.

Odd, I thought you said they were your sister's?  Though I do mismember a lot of things I do try to remember the important details when I can.  However I guess I completely blanked on you having a brother.

Everything else you said is spot on, just need to beat it into him more I guess (figuratively, and possibly literally.)

Maybe now that he's done with high school start charging him room/board and put that toward his secondary education?  IDK, I'm sure you've tried a lot and have probably thought of that too.  In any case, best of luck with him.

Maybe shame him for not doing as well as his sister?

It doesn't surprise me that people think they are one of my sister's kids.  Long story short (well maybe not that short), we met Troy in person for the first time at The Red Apple on March 17, 2016.  The only thing he knew was I did not have kids of my own because I had said that I was too selfish for that.  So he automatically thought they were Trene's kids since she was with us.  I corrected him and explained that they were my brother's kids and how I ended up caring for them.

At the next gathering, that following Thursday, he introduced them as my sister's kids.  Trene said "No, they are my little brother's kids."  A few months later, in August, we celebrated our youngest sister's birthday/wedding anniversary at the gathering.  Troy pulled me aside and whispered, "So is that the sister whose kids these are?"  I looked at him and said, "No, they are my brother's kids."

Finally Troy just started calling them "Girl, Boy, Monchichis" and left it at that until about a year later when we had finally talked our brother into attending one of the gatherings with his new wife.  That's when we took all the pictures and Troy finally stopped calling them my sister's kids....for about 3 months.  After that, to play it safe, Troy would just point at the kids and say, "You. Them. Monchichis.  You know who you are." 🤣

By the Summer of 2019, Troy had learned their names and that's how he addressed them from then until the last gathering we attended on February 6, 2020.

So there was a good 2 and a half years that he called them my sister's kids and would introduce them as such.  He just knew they didn't belong to Trene.

I only didn't think they were your brothers kids though because I apparently blanked on you guys having a brother.  So was the girl I met at the memorial a biological sister then or a sister in law?

Some people might be offended that I forget details, or at least that's a fear.  Also if I don't see someone regularly I may forget they exist for a while unless they were a large part of my life.

Also I wouldn't think of not having kids as being selfish.  Not to mention you still actually have kids anyway which aren't yours (but still family), and hat's like the exact opposite of selfish.

Being too selfish to have kids became the inside joke.  When I was younger, I would get hit on and the first thing guys would mention would be the kids they wanted (back then, if you got yourself a black girl, she could get on welfare and take care of your kids while you played the field).  I would say I was too selfish for kids which meant that if they were with me, we would have to have a meaningful "relationship" not a bump 'n go and that was a big turn off.  After I got the kids, I would still say it just to watch people's reactions.

The girl you met at the memorial was the baby sister we had the birthday/anniversary celebration at the gathering for.  The Red Apple let us use the "Greenery Room" for the event a.k.a. the part of the restaurant with potted plants.

I do not think any less of anyone or become offended when someone forgets details or just plain don't remember something altogether because we all have our own lives with enough going on to write our own TV series.  Also, a major part of my responsibility is assisting people with physical and mental disabilities.

I like helping. 😊

If one more pharmacy gives me the runaround about specific meds being out in our area, I declare I'm going to scream to high heaven/burn something/write a letter/meet someone round back with a baseball bat/contemplate using my vehicle as a projectile/throw something into the Detroit River......

…..But most likely, I will wait until Monday, contact the prescribing physicians and discuss alternatives that are within the guidelines of the current medical insurance coverage.

YES!!!

I got everything handled through CVS.  A bit of checking and mix-ups were straightened out.  Now I will be ecstatic once I receive the actual "ready for pickup" notification(s).

Awesome. Dealing with the insurance and pharmacies (mainly insurance) is how my youngest sister got so sick back in January. Basically the sister had cancer when she was nine (she's cancer free now), she had gotten tired of dealing with the insurance saying she didn't need the meds she needs to survive. An upper respitory infection turned into a case of lateral pnuemonia that sent her into the ICU for a week starting Jan 9. She's been with the mother since being discharged Jan 21

Yes, definitely a Yikes moment.

I'm trying not to let that happen on this end.  The insurance kept denying processing on one of Trene's inhalers and today, came to find out that the pharmacy, themselves, had been billing it incorrectly all these many months...since last year.  Unfortunately, it's the one that allows her to actually get air into her lungs.  Fortunately, the doctor's office was able to give us a couple of samples last week until to give us time to find a solution.

Solution found.

Glad it was taken care off before too long. The insurance for the sister is still doing that with one or two of her meds. One of her doctors (her endo I think) has been nice enough to keep providing scripts for that med.

Congratulations.  You have a young man on your hands.  I was just looking at the picture of you and both kids in the other thread 2 days ago.

🥰

Fuck fans.  Get you one of them portable A/C units!

These things are awesome, though I'm leaving mine off until 7PM when the "premium hours" end.  DTE can go "service" itself.
