I hope he is not going to get you a roll of Formica and expect you to adhere it to the surface of whatever it is that it came off of.  He is going to do the work, right?

Oh yea, he's gonna do it. He's gotta use caulking. I mean he mentioned caulking.  I hate caulking. It gets dirty so fast and it starts looking nasty. I need my own caulking gun so I can clean properly the shower tile and reseal it everytime I clean because I'm always scrubbing little pieces off and it looks bad.

Hopefully he knows what he's doing.  You only use caulking to seal cracks after everything is installed.

Maybe I'm overthinking this because I don't know the full situation, but as a residential builder, it sounds like something is missing or someone is referring to things by the wrong name.

Yea normally they caulk the shower to seal the tile so I'm thinking he's like going to have to buy something to seal the formica to..a piece of wood or something? Yea I'm not really sure what he is doing at all but he is supposed to be back tomorrow.  I mean I been waiting for a toilet seat for a month though 🤔

In the business, we call people with a little bit of knowledge a "Fast Eddie".  They do work, but don't really know the work.  They do it fast, but they don't do it right.

As long as he uses grout to fill in the tile, a caulk line is run to connect the joint where 2 unalike materials come together to fill the gaps between them.  A better option would be using silicone.

A sheet of new plywood should be cut to size and installed before any Formica or Laminate is glued to the surface.

I've worked too many jobs where someone covered up old wood or disintegrated particle board with a thin sheet of new Formica, glued it down and sealed it off to make it look like the work was done.  Then the Formica develops cracks a short while later.  But at least it looked pretty for a minute.

Oh I'm betting that's the way they did it the first time so I have a feeling it's going to be done the same.  I'm curious to see how it is done so I'll keep you posted tomorrow as soon as it's "done".

I have a feeling that it's not going to be how it should.

When I passed my certification, I came out at "Inspector" level.  An inspector can actually shut a place down for not being up to code so usually most landlords do not file the proper paperwork to have work done to avoid paying fines in the event the work is shabby.

I am curious to see what they will do.  I need pictures.  This might be amusing.

I remember doing a training in Lansing years ago to learn how to do MSHDA inspections.  I should have spent the money to get the certification because they pay good money to do Inspections through HUD. You could probably make $$$ if you did MSHDA inspections. It seems fun.

First of all, Love the Profile Pic ~

I actually did MiOSHA training along with getting my MI Residential Builder's License.  Unfortunately, I had to let the license go.

Since your status is "Self Employed", I would go do work, but people kept paying me with food...that, by no means, helped pay any bills, especially not the licensing fee.  After a few years of trying, I let it lapse.

Right. It's an absolute mess especially when the person is really still in love with her. I mean I guess that can be any ex..kids or not but them kids create that bond. It's kinda unfuckwithable especially the relationship didn't really have closure.

Oh yea, I told my daughter..no babies yet please after I found out she was in a serious relationship 🤣lol

At least get married first 🙏 give me time to prepare myself and my son, well he doesn't date females.  He told me a week before my 42nd bday. His dad knew already for awhile.

It was a shock to me. People asked if I knew and I actually can honestly say not at all. I just thought he was more like me than his dad. I think people just assume that a kid has to fit a specific stereotype. God forbid they can't just be an individual despite what gender they are attracted to.

Hugs

With the way things run in this world, it would take a lot to shock me nowadays.

I definitely told the kids, "No babies until you are settled and out of school with a really good paying job because those little buggers are going to use up everything you make!"

But I know stuff happens...however, they know I'm not raising anyone else's kids.

Been there, Done that, Bought a T-Shirt, a postcard, a car wrap, a billboard, a flying banner......

😆

Ikr! Get you a bullhorn like

⚠️⚠️  attention,  attention please...🚫 🚼

It's your time now! I know they are smart kids though so hopefully they take that advice, but so far so good,  right? My daughter used to think babies were creepy but when she started teaching last year she fell in love with her kindergarteners. She has a bunch of Bebe's kids this year though so she's not having a great time with her 2nd graders. They have behavior issues but she still adores them. They are very cute at that age❤😉

Maybe I can't see how "cute" little ones are since I've been babysitting and caring for them since I was 5 years old.  It's always been a duty I had to perform.  We took care of little ones in the family to help each other out and assisted with babysitting jobs to help make money.

I suppose I just have a very different mindset, except when it comes to my brother's stepdaughter.  She's 8 and autistic and I love her so much. 🥰

I think my son being a weed smoker was the most shocking thing to me, because he also told me that at the same time.  He was going through alot and he had like a bad anxiety attack a week before this.  I just hugged him and cried and told him he never has to feel thst way. I told him what matters is that he exists here in this world,  no matter what abd

Aww ❤

I used to take care of my two step aunt's babies. They were crack addicts and the babies were taken from the hospital because they had crack in their system and my step grandma had got custody.  I was the oldest probably between age 12 and 14 and the step grandma had at least a dozen people in the house living there at one time, counting me, my siblings and mom. The babies came, close in age too. I was the little mommy but I was mothering my siblings anyway before that. Grocery shopping at 8, carrying too many bags walking home from Farmer Jack with my hand me down clothes from my elderly neighbor on. It was the 80s I'm wearing stuff that 60 year old women wore. Those clothes would be great to have now! I'd sell em, vintage as fuck 🤣

I was vintage before vintage was cool! Lol
