Trying not to feel bad about blowing off everything today just so I can keep a high score on the Duolingo leaderboard.  I joined a tournament and they had me thinking that it ended as of this past Sunday.  Nope.  Apparently there were 2 weeks of semifinals after the week of qualifying for the tournament and now this week is the Finals.

 

I've been first place on the leaderboard for the past 3 weeks...there is no way I'm not finishing at the top after all of this.  But this had better be the final week of the tournament or else I will................not be getting any sleep as I go for maintaining my first place status until this is all over with.

A bit deflated.

 

Over the years I've had to let people go. It's part of being a manager. Having to let someone go who did nothing wrong, well, that demoralized me.

 

I sat there. Recited the HR text. I watched a good person crumble in front of me. I saw their heart break. Their life come undone in front of my eyes - with no fault of their own.

 

Just a victim of corporate restructuring. 

 

I don't want this anymore.

That sucks, it really does. It's probably one reason why I'm not management. I'm not sure if I even have what's 'looked for' to qualify to be management.

I'm sure you fought as hard as you could for them and will be a great reference.

 

Life is change, and it's extremely often that we don't get to choose how it changes.

 

Hey, at least they didn't die on the job or something like that.

I'm finally on track to take care of things, but it feels like something is holding me back.  It's like I can just barely put my finger on it, but it's just slightly out of reach.

Feels like I have so much stuff up in the air...now I just need to ground them.  Not my idea of a personal cloud service.  Feels like I'm not managing my time properly for everything that needs to be done.

Feels like today took off and drug me with it dangling by a leash.  I'm smashing into everything and having to handle it on the spot.  However, feels like I have a little downtime at the moment.

      So I just got back from Happy Endings and I saw @DJ Saintthere.  He told me that after I got kicked out of High Dive that later on Mike also attacked him, and Mike and his crew were also kicked out.  Then we talked about the scene and possible upcoming gigs.  I hope something comes his way soon, as well as mine too.  With the current economy I think more club owners will be hungry to try more things like goth/industrial/other alternative nights.  I've also heard that GenZ isn't online dating and is actually going out into the world to meet people which may also help business owners, though they aren't drinking which doesn't really help much.  I think more places are going to need to start serving food and mocktails to make up the difference. Then Mike showed up at Happy Endings which I thought was highly likely because I hadn't seen him there in a while, and @DJ Aaron Hingst,@elektrosonik, and his husband Tim were all there too.  He did something else I wasn't expecting...  Which was he actually shook my hand and said it was good to see me, which caught me a little off guard.  He didn't apologize for anything but it's a start I think.  I told him I was sorry to hear about @djpleasurekitten's passing (which I was/am.  Despite the rift that ended up existing between us we were friends at one point.) So maybe he's moving on finally?  If so then I'm glad.  I'm still not sure if I'll ever go back, but it is at least a start, and it's nice to actually see he's trying to bury the hatchet in something other than my skull.
