The Dissenter plug in.

Recommended Posts

I just signed up for Gab and installed the Dissenter plug in.

This thing is cool, it adds a comment section to every page of the internet. Every page.

Some racist leftist got sick of people in their comment section having a discussion about how disgusting it is that they keep insinuating Americans of African dissent are inferior so they turn off comments? Well they cant turn off Dissenter.

Need to reflect some sunlight on (insert color here) supremacist? Well you know they aren't going to be able to resist Dissenter, so they will have to turn it off every time they go to their own pages to avoid the ire.

Think Amazon might be to closely tied to a seller on their site and curating reviews? They can't do a thing about Dissenter.

Rotten Tomatoes can disable the not going to see it feature all they want, AND now when I see a movie before the official release date I can review it attached to their site without being a corporate shill.

Get Gab, get Dissenter, don't let the extremists of either side have the opportunity to make it their own.

I was looking into it.  Unfortunatley it tends to attract certain fringe types and I don't really feel like reading what they have to say or fighting with them when I don't like it.

Free speech at any cost is great when it isn't marred by assholes.  There are a few loud voices that just ruin it for everyone though.  Admittedly they have good points on occasion, but even a stopped analog clock is right twice a day (or once if it's a 24 hour clock, 3 times if it's an 8 hour clock, or four if it's a 6 hour clock.)

The main problem is that usually there isn't enough of the -other- team posting their point of view.  People will usually self select themselves out of a conversation/group when they don't agree with the content of it.  This has the effect of creating a sort of walled garden where it's just an echo chamber for the people who frequent there.  Anyone new who then shows up who doesn't also share the same views is mocked and ridiculed by the rest of the people there.  They then leave when they've had enough abuse and the status quo is maintained.
