I Keep Losing Facebook Friends

Not a big deal. In fact it seems kind of petty to me. But any way.   First off I have to explain that I am not a Trump supporter.  So anyone who post pro-Trump stuff on my FB wall gets a comment from me about what I think about Trump.  Well that has not sit well with some of my FB friends who support Trump and or his policies..   So they post all this pro-Trump stuff and after a few comments from me, they end up unfriending me.  But I just can't.  I simply can not just sit back and ignore what they say. It is not in my nature to do so.  So I guess, that is just how it has to be.

In this day and age, the word "friend" is used for any and everybody who knows your social media name, profile, etc.  A true friend knows you for you and would understand that you have the right to your own opinion just like they do.  So yes, losing a FB "friend" is truly "Not a big deal".

And if they are people you actually know in real life and they feel so strongly about politics that they have to "not know you anymore" then I say let them go.  Life is too short to chase after stress factors.

Yeah its not a big thing. Some what interesting though. I guess some people can't handle their topics being debated. I am more amused by it then hurt.

I lost all my Facebook friends when I deleted my Facebook account.

Never looked back.

It's past politics and more about basic human rights/decency, which at every turn Trump (and his followers) has shown he has zero consideration for any of that. Taking away human rights and freedoms based on prejudice beliefs isn't politics to me. Calling it a differing political opinion for those sort of beliefs is just a cheap cop out in a poor attempt to justify how they're a shitty personal.

 

And yeah, Facebook shouldn't matter, but they got it set up that makes you upset when you lose friends. It's annoying, but remind yourself you can live with annoying. Quality over quantity, and it's the trash taking it's self out for you. Hope that helps as another way of thinking about it.

The thing is the left will do the same thing.  Though what is that saying?  If there is a table of 9 people and a Nazi sits down and isn't immediately shamed or excluded, it's a table of 10 Nazis.  Really cancel culture exists on both sides though, it's just we agree with one side more than the other.  There is no tolerance of dissent or differing opinions anymore.  For the left anything they don't like is a Nazi, and for the right they're a Commie.  People even ridicule the people in the middle for not being extreme enough because again if you're not completely with the group then you're against it.  You're either excluded for being a racist/sexist bigoted asshole who hates taxes and likes guns and one religion, or you're excluded for being a bi/trans/ally feminist race traitor who likes taxes and hates guns and religion (or is tolerant of others aside from their own.) For people like me stuck in the middle there is no winning.

I've been seeing a lot more people because more pro orange man the past year. The number of people at CC ive Talked to who secretly want him back is shockingly surprising.

Yeah, Facebook are pretty much Nazis about real names (among other things.)  My advice is to get the contact info of anyone you actually care about before someone possibly reports you and they just block your account until you give them your real governmental ID.

It's been like 10+ years and they're never getting my actual ID.  Fuck them raw.

That sounds fun.  You can reverse search the photos with things like https://tineye.com too where you upload it and it tells you what site it's from.

That said, not every sob story is false, but unfortunately the ones that are false make you question everything including the ones that aren't.

I get punished by Facebook, regularly. I’m shocked I still have an account. I’m pretty sure that it’s my father, reincarnated to be a Facebook bot. because it reminds me of when I was a kid and I was grounded all the fucking time. I’m in a time out again. I mean, sure, I said “I’ll kill somebody.” But I didn’t mean that I was actually going to kill somebody. It was just a figure of speech to describe my exasperation about a situation. 

Apparently, I’m inciting violence. But it’s OK for people to show animal abuse, beheadings, all sorts of other crazy shit. It’s wild to me how acceptable that is.

Im in an absolutely weird boat with Facebook as well. The types of ads I get are weird and can't figure out what in the world prompted them. It's a bunch of scammy porn links from Vietnam or Philippines. So every other post, it's some half naked girl with see through underwear titled "I'm in your bed, what are you going do at me" or some other terrible translation. I have a few friends who occasionally promote their onlyfans but I don't react to that, and if it's my search history, then why not jobs and stocks as that's all my searches really are. The more I block, the more they show up. It's getting tiresome. And yes, the censorship on top of that. I can't even call someone a fermented potato in my posts without getting hit with a bullying ban.

 

And Twitter as an alternate is horrible. I have a few accounts I follow such as Unusual Whales, Gruguvian, and other investors who know what the hell they're taking about, but my feed is politically polarized so bad anyway, like Facebook during the 2020 and 2016 election years.

 

I am too old for TikTok (spoiler alert, I say it because I can't stand it) and any other social media platform is a dead fucking joke.

 

Which leaves me here, DGN. I do hope this place picks up again. I just don't know how to help make it happen. The original founder burned too many bridges for many of the old crowd to come back despite him being passed on, and there's not enough posters here for any new faces to find appealing enough to stick around.

 

Still though, it's better than being blasted with a ridiculous 30 day ban for the use of the word, "potato" on top of unsolicited porn bots completely taking over my news feed.

Truth.

I've never had any problems with Facebook, other than it being boring, but a necessity to float between social groups. All other social media is crap. I don't know what the next underground communications network is going to be, Discord tried but meh, but there is a void that needs filling that commercial enterprise cannot provide.

I really thought this latest wave of people coming back would stick. 😞

They may later on. Some might have associated this place with bad memories, or it brings back certain times in their lives that they rather not revisit. But those of us who are sticking around may slowly help users grow eventually. So just keep the sage burning and hope for the best perhaps.

Yeah well, you were here before I was unbanned so you're like the new old crowd in my eyes. Like there's old old, like me and brenda, and new old, like you, Slavic, and Tron.  But as empty as this place seems to be, I can say the vibe of it has improved greatly under Tron.

 

Oh, and did some DD to try and figure out why my Facebook is being such a dumpster fire and this is what I learned. Meta wants to imitate TikTok where sponsored and suggested posts show up more than friend posts. I feel this is a horrible move on their part. We don't go on Facebook to see a majority of ads and lame ass suggested pages, we go there for the people we have.

 

But wait, there's more!

 

All the sponsored and suggested content and who sees it is now being decieded and distributed by A.I. and I do believe A.I. is a thing that isn't going anywhere, but at the stages it's at now, I'm not surprised at the horrible trainwreck that is my feed. Leave it to A.I. to determine depressed widower must be the same as a horny 14 year old boy and dump my feed fool if soft core from sketchy sources.

 

Either way, I'm done with it. Just holding on to my profile to keep the link of what my wife left behind, but won't be active outside of messenger. For better or worse, I'm probably going to be more active on here.

Give it time and AI will look at that too.  If anything it just makes people look MORE suspicious.  I remember when kids got in trouble for "|337 $p3@k" because it was related to hacker culture (well, script kiddie culture but whatever.)  There was also that list of thousands of ways to spell Viagra that the e-mail programs had to bounce that spam when it was so prevalent.

 

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with any fucking sensors these days.  The only thing that might change is Discord, but every other platform I exist on doesn't care, or is encrypted so they couldn't care even if they wanted to.

I keep shredding people on Facebook for being misogynistic or racist or bigoted, you know, shitty things, yet I’m the one that keeps getting grounded for it. It’s just wild to me how I can sit there and watch somebody beat the shit out of somebody’s dog, but I call somebody a misogynist and insult the potential size of their member and I’m grounded for at least seven days.
 

I’m  just tired of being nice about shit like that. I’m tired of being kind and cool and calm when I really wanna punch them in places nobody should be punched. To be honest, I don’t think I’m losing friends on Facebook. If I am, I guess it is what it is. But I have totally eliminated my father‘s entire side of the family and half of my moms. I just can’t hang with terrible people. And I’m exactly who I am, both in real life, and on the Internet. you only get one of me and that’s it. And if anybody deleted me from Facebook, that’s OK. I think it's largely due to everything being so polarized lately. Like it really shouldn't be but lines in society were crossed when MAGA became the cult of extreme prejudice. They expect us to still be friends after we seen what they voted for, what it caused, and expected to tolerate they're STILL voting for this nonsense? Hell fucking no. They can eat bullets for all I care. We're trying to coexist, we do not need all this New Age Hitler bullshit. And the "left" not being much better has everyone pissed the fuck off.

 

Facebook is also being a dumpster fire as usual. The algorithm has gotten worse. It's what's forced into our feed. My best friend is force fed misogynous shit while I'm fed misandry shit. Outside of our opposite sex, we're both the same, we just are working to improve our lives and our interests have nothing to do with sexism shit. She gets red pill posts while I get "men are trash" posts.  Oh and I'm getting soft core porn and I can't block it fast enough. It's fucked.

 

I honestly use Twitter more often now. I only get on Facebook to make a joke about once a day and that's it. I'm not going to get force fed this garbage and the only reason why I haven't completely deleted my profile (I have a history of doing this for reasons) is because my wife's profile is on my friends list and I'm not giving that up.
