The annual 7-Eleven Day, aka Free Slurpee Day, has been canceled but free frozen drinks are still up for grabs.

While the coronavirus pandemic led the nation’s largest convenience store chain to cancel its in-store birthday celebration and one-day freebie giveaway, members of the 7Rewards loyalty program will get a coupon for a free medium Slurpee added to their accounts Wednesday, July 1.

"The personalized offer is redeemable the entire month of July, allowing customers the opportunity to treat themselves when it’s convenient for them, while helping us practice physical distancing in stores," 7-Eleven said in a news release, noting the offer is redeemable once per member.

@Maureen Falcon

This story made me think of you since you are the one who introduced me to this in 2017.  It was like a local holiday.  It seemed almost impossible trying to get into that overly crowded 7-Eleven up the street from you when you lived in Oak Park.  I had never seen anything like that before...a full parking lot at the 7-Eleven across the street from a full lot at a Taco Bell next door to a full lot at a Dairy Queen with all the traffic and people pouring out into the streets.  And yet everyone was courteous, cheerful and very friendly.  it was hectic, crazy and fun.

🤣
