Hair Stylists

Recommended Posts

Okay so i have been feeling hideous for a while now due to my hair and it is finally (well part of it is) at a lentgh where if i get it cut i can have a short version of my normal hair cut. So off i go, I make a stop at one place and they have 1hr n 45 minute weight and w 3 kids in tow that just was not going to work.

So i go to Bo Ric's (i dont care how it is spelled), sit down point to the spot on the back of my head to show her how short to go, and then i follow a steep invisable line to my chin and i tell her Start Here cut down on an angle to my chin, while she is combing and parting my hair i also add Do not touch the bangs. Well what do ya think she did, the very first snip of hair was........

get this.......

MY BANGS!

i stopped her and said what r you doing i said do not touch my bangs, DO NOT TOUCH MY BANGS MEANS DO NOT TOUCH THEM, so i tell her to get me someone else, So she goes to get this other lady and that lady is like she will have to come back when XX is here i dotn want to do it. I was like screw this took the cape off me and walked out.

So i go to this other place, a place which normally does a good job and they did do a good job this time, it is just not what i really want, I want a sharp angle from my chin up to the spot on the back of my head that i pointed to, when they get near the spot i want the back to be curved slightly I do not want an upside down V on the back of my head, so i was looking at it and well it is totally fixable. I iwll have to go a tad shorter then i wanted to but what the hell ya know.

my prolem is i already spent way more on this then i should have, hell i should have not even went to get the cut but well i was just ugly, any how does any one know of any one who can accomplish somehting closer to what i want in the area of Roseville for like $10 and tip????

Cause i am really annoyed and i still hate my hair and my little do something nice formyself trip turned to a huge pile of crap and i dont feel any better, i feel worse actually.

I had the same experiance a month ago when I went to Fantastic Sams. The lady refused to do what I wanted and then she proceeded to fuck my hair up the way she wanted. I ended up leaving and not paying.. screw them!!

I hate to say it, but if you're going to go to places like Fantastic Sams, BoRics, etc., chances are you're going to get a shitty haircut.

There ARE exceptions!!! I go to Great Clips down here, which is just like those places, I pay $11.00 for a cut. But the woman I go to is older, experienced, black, and FROM DETROIT. She's been in the business for years, and just plain works there 'cause it's convenient.

Most people at places like that are newbies. They're gaining experience so they can move onto better salons.

I'm not necessarily saying you get what you pay for. 'Cause I think hoity-toity salons where they charge $50 just to cut hair are full of shit, too.

But in my experience, you're best going to a more established salon, a place where people will consult with other stylists if they need help, a place that stands by their work.

To save money, I usually find a stylist, pay to have her do my hair at the salon once, then drop hints that I'm willing to go to her home to have my hair done on a cheaper basis. I've always done this, and it always pays off - for both myself and the stylist, who gets to pocket 100% of the money and doesn't have to kick a share back to the salon.

That said, the only people in Michigan I could refer you to would be in the far downriver area, so I can't help you with a specific recommendation.

Now, this reminds me, time to give Great Clips a call and make sure Maudine will be there tomorrow...

Okay so i went to this other place i have not been to in years Goin Bananas on Gratiot, any how the lady was older and i had mr L. draw my hair and she said "You want a swing bob" and i was OMG it has a name. Any how she snipped here n there and Poof i had something very similar to what i usually have, I knew it would not be perfect because i have some layers to grow out more and well my bangs r still trying to grow out but the basic shape of the longest part of my hair is exactly what i want.

I wish i would have gotten her name i ment too but i fogot.

Paid $12 so it worked well.

I like my hair once again for what i have to dela with. :grin

I haven't had my hair cut since 1996 (except once by a girl I liked who fucked it up, but I liked her and her tits in the back of my head made me pretty much not care).

I used to go to Bo-Rics in Kalamazoo, cause my friend Becca worked there, and she was fan-fucking-tastic. Other than that, the only other person I've had any luck with was a feisty old lady named Joanne at the salon I worked at up here. Of course, she has to charge like, seventy bucks a haircut, cause she's awesome, so I don't go to her now that I don't work there.

I've always had better luck on my own anyway, cause I like my hair to be uneven as it gives it more body and style. And sometimes I like to change things several times in a week, if I'm feeling especially miserable.

Ah, hair.

I had a stylist (who I also used to work for) who was kickass. She was a Paul Mitchell educator and had more talent than anyone I knew. She was also very funny. She always knew what I was trying to say when describing what I wanted, and reproduced it beautifully.

Than she developed a coke habit......

I was thinking while this new lady was cutting away how much more right it felt hwiel she was doing it, i could feel the cut hair laying the right ways, Once i get a moment and do something with it i will throw a pic up, but it just feels so much nicer.

i was saying to Mr. L how the ladies at borics looked at me like i was nuts that i was pissed about my hair. It's My Damn Hair, and if the lady cant follow a simple direction like dont touch my bangs yeah i have a right to be pissed, i just wonder if either of those two ladies ever had a bad hair cut, they are woman they should know how important the hair can be.

Seriosly if i was fresh out of buety school I would not be so bold as to not follow my customers directions, i just guess it seems to me that if i was new it would be more important to make my customer happy then to go on with my own whims. Word of mouth can make or break a persons career soemtimes.

Hell i was not even looking for perfection i was just looking to get the crappy hair cut off,the longer stuff shaped and what i wanted to continue to grow to be left alone till i go back in a month or so when it should hopefull be about the same length.

Oh well i plan to head back to Bananas and hopefull get the same lady or atleast perhaps make an appointment with her when the time comes for another cut. I might even stop ther today while i run errands just to get her name. I hope she is there.

back when i cared for my hair i had either my cousin cut it (she speacialised in the wierd styles, comes from having an 80's mettaler for a bigger sis i guess)

now i keep it as long as nature will let me, but i do make concessions to work and keep it tidy (most of the time). but even in the trim i have been to places that i say, no more than 2 inches and they cut 3-5 inches off.

i think its something mosts "stylists" learn at hairdressing collage. my campus had a hairstyling dept and there was a case of a friend going for a haircut with a 2nd year student doing the cut, he asked for a No1 on the back of neck, she pulled the guards oof and proceded to trim from his neck to the top of his crown.

and the various exes i dated from that dept pissed me off in a matter oif a week for inability to listen or for being dumber than a post

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
