Mari Augdahl Bes Bes
So lately Ive been looking at brands such as Dreslilly, Gothbb, Deadlygirl, Beelemental, and clothes at Wish. I like the stuff, and especially I have a few dresses in victorian style that I like very much. Yet, the thing is. I started thinking about this https://www.voguebusiness.com/fashion/the-global-fur-trade-relies-on-china-is-the-mood-shifting And, well, animal rights in China and too many places around the world is messed up, to say the least. Should I avoid these brands or not? Some dresses have leather material, f ex.

Trappernicus
Animal rights is an are of some concern. Yet I'm not sure where a line may be drawn. Most of our clothing has been derived from animals. We need leather for shoes. True to say synthetic materials can be used, but they involve a range of chemicals that are harmful to the environment. Than there are many other forms of clothing that we get from a range of both domestic and wild animals. The alternatives are also man made but involve chemicals that damage the environment. Perhaps we need to find a middle ground position? 🦊
Scary Guy
Animals is only part of it but sure let's start there. We consume animals A LOT. I don't feel bad for it though. World hunger is a serious problem. What we really need is better use of materials and maybe a better distribution system. Maybe have food companies either sell the skins or just make clothing themselves so as little as possible gets wasted. The problem I have with China is the slave labor, their treatment of Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Tibet, and how they treat their own people. Apple and Nike can go fuck themselves. Amazon is complacent as well since they sell a lot of products and even rebrand some under the "Amazon Basics" line. Don't get me wrong, I still use Amazon but I don't fucking like it at all. China isn't known as "the world's factory" for nothing. Everyone suffers there unless you're in the CCP and even then usually only the upper class of the CCP. Of course they're not the only country and there are many others... The US still has a slave labor system in place through the prison industrial complex. It's a vicious cycle of "let's make people criminals so we can put them in jail to get more cheap labor." Anyone who uses the prison industry to make their products can fuck off. Worse yet, it incentivizes the companies to lobby for stronger laws to make more criminals. Trying to just survive you eventually fuck over others. Our carbon footprints are just the beginning of it. Just existing harms the planet. Humanity is a virus that should be exterminated. I mean we wont because we value our lives too much. Imagine thinking that all this was put here just for us to fuck it up because we felt like it. How egotistical would that be?
