In an ideal world, yes.  Unfortunately, the morals and dogma of any one particular belief system may designate that any other belief system is false.  This tunnel vision may even lead one to the "if they're not with us, they're against us" type of ideology that is commonly found in most (though not all) Western religions.  Some forms of Islam follow the same thinking, as seen in the 9/11 attacks as well as the current global terrorism crisis (Lebanon, The U.K., Spain, etc.).

But, man, how cool would it be if everyone could just mind they're own fucking business.

Agreed. My perfect world can be summed up in John Lennon's "Imagine". Or, A Perfect Circle's "Imagine" for you people who are younger than me =) .

I was raised by a christian and an agnostic and I have always considered myself christian.Though my faith is still evolving I still feel in my heart that the legacy of Jesus is something I want to embrace!

I feel fortunate to be surrounded by pagans and agnostics because it has in turn made my core convictions stronger I would have never realized how strong my faith was, were it not tested! That being said I have no desire to go to church and I understand why so many christians stay away.

christian but can't find a church that would accept my gf and I

You and her would likely be very accepted at a UU congregation. Christian beliefs and all. Most are "welcoming" which means they accept all people from the GBLT community. My friends Andy and Dwayne go so they can have a spirtual practice in which A. As a gay couple, they are welcome, and B. where they can each hold their own, dissimilar beliefs.

I'm a Christian.

But only because of Christ, what he did, the strength and depth of his words, the questions that he asked, the social circles he ran in, and the rebel that he was.

I am nOT a christian, because I was "raised" as one, or because my church is cool, or because I fear death, or because I need a social attatchment. Most of my spiritual peers are uncomfortable with my language and the friends I keep and the topics that I discuss anyway, which brings me great satisfaction, as this seems to be much more Christ-like (this rebellion) than the Christianeze who roam the aisles of the sanctuary I worship in.

I do go to church - because I need to continue growing and learning and being challenged, and although the church has let me down many times, I likewise have done the same to others, and to God. It happens, this human thing that we do (being human). But ultimately church does provide me with what I need.

I also, have many gay and lesbian friends, as well as agnostics, pagans, secular humanists, etc. etc. etc. who are welcome in my home and around my barbecue and or my kegger. I have learned a great deal from all of them and are thankful for them, especially when they have challenged my own thinking or have called me on being religeous, which I hate, and yet must admit to sometimes being guilty of. Nevertheless - they make my convictions and faith even stronger and in so doing they bless me. My faith in Christ brings me peace, and strength, and happiness, and purpose, and creativity and passion.

Steven

Suppose I should answer the question I presented. There are no god/gods/devils/satan or whatever you may call them. I believe in none of that. What I do believe in is reincarnation. If I was to take up a "religion" it would be Wicca for it's openess and it's celebration and respect of nature.
