TronRP
April 22, 2022 With all the bells ringing about climate change and planetary devastation, it was difficult to even find positive images to post for Earth Day today. Bummer...

WhiteLines
I sorta feel like with the rate of technology's advancement, if we (as a planetary population) for the most part allow technology to go about continuing to decimate the environment then eventually technological advancements will find a way to preserve whats left of the earth environmentally at that point but also have a solution for keeping us alive once the world itself is inhabitable. Not that i agree with saving the earth or that i agree with destroying it, i just think BS all balances itself out in the end one way or another... Maybe, idk. Scary Guy
In reality it doesn't matter what happens to the planet or anything on it. If we died out the planet would heal at least. We are a parasitic infestation that is going to destroy it and move on to other things if that's even possible. It is just simple math. Group A are the people who want to save the planet, hug trees, etc... This is a small minority but it isn't the smallest. They try to do what they can to actually make the planet a better place. Group B are the people who do not care or notice the climate changing. They say "What do you mean 'global warming' is a thing? It's snowing in April!" These people are dangerous idiots but they are only half of the "problem." The other half are the smallest minority, but they have the most impact. Group C are the business owners who make the decisions to fuck over the planet. Maybe they care about their company image enough to do some "greenwashing" but really they don't care because they're either making shitload of money or they're "too big to fail" and are propped up by the other half of the problem. They employ some of the previous group as well so Group B has a vested interest in keeping the status quo. If we took groups B and C and drown them in the ocean we could potentially solve the reef problem while also reducing carbon emissions and overpopulation at the same time. Troy Spiral (13)
Its doubtful that most people are thinking about the earth "for the earth's sake." Which is fair. The earth as far as we know doesn't have feelings in the sense of human feelings. We are thinking about the earth in the sense of its suitability for human habitation. Bonus points for non-human life. Most humans have a negativity bias that pushes us to ignore the positive and only see what we dislike. 99.99999999999999999999999+ % of the universe is deadly, in most cases near instant death for human life and all life that we are aware of. We have a livable earth and even the most dire predictions have it still being livable a century from now. Is the earth being treated badly? Yes. Should we be doing something other than just complaining or hoping someone or something else will improve it? Yes. Regardless, the earth exists as it does today. The only location we know of that won't kill us. One could be forgiven in thinking the ENTIRE universe will kill us near instantly. The entire earth could disappear tomorrow and the universe wouldn't notice. The earth IS as it is. Probably one of THE most positive things. We couldn't even do what we are doing without it. That in itself, is a positive thing for us little specks that live on it.
