Oh I'm for sure going to be hosting some west MI event and trying my best to rustle up some weirdos over in my neck of the woods.

But I'm particularly attached to yall (all three of you XD) and I would be happy to help get balls rolling if I can :)

Now that I fully realize the state of things, I am eager to get some balls rolling myself.

When I first joined the board, I used to ride out to visit members just because.

The furthest member I visited in the U.S. lives in Adrian, Michigan.  The furthest member I visit outside of the U.S. lives in Canada.  Holland, Michigan is a 3 hour freeway drive.  That's a 6 hour round trip.  Would you be renting a room if you came to Detroit for an event?

Oh screw that, I'm sure there's a member here with an extra room she (or they if she brings her S/O) can stay in.  I mean unless they want to pay for a hotel/hostel and make it a mini vacation.  But if that were the case I'd say to plan it around a concert they want to see as well or something.  Not that there aren't plenty of other things in the Nightlife / Daylife threads.

Personally I'd be too cheap to get a hotel and would probably just sleep in my car in a secluded area if it's nice out.

Now I've made myself sad because I miss sleeping in my hearse :(

I used to have a black pleather lounge in the flatbed of my truck, which was nice because my truck has a truck cap.  However, I ended up taking it out when I did some furniture moving and then other stuff got loaded back there and now it's basically a recycling catch-all for when we make runs to the center.  But it was nice to take a break back there while I was riding around with it. Wow, I didn't realize I missed that.

I mean you're always welcome (if you aren't allergic to cats!)

Renting a room or sleeping in the car would be the best option because I LOTHE Night driving. Pros and Cons to both XD

I'm solidly planning on making it down there though asap :)

I've always wanted a hearse! For this exact reason!

Imagine if you even had a coffin for it? You'd just have a hotel on wheels, private, comfy and basically free! (Compared to a hotel haha)

This is how you know I'm not bullshitting because I can give special knowledge, like how this absolutely does not work because you cannot fully open the lid since the roof is too low.  The times I did do that I didn't have a casket for it or I kept it in the garage.  Also you NEED a church truck for it because it makes moving it around so much easier and I was able to do it by myself (although I usually never had to because when you go "hey do you want to help me move my casket?" people go "fuck yeah" at least until after the first few times when the novelty wears off.)

It's much better to have a mattress you can switch it out with.  You can probably even use the bier pins to keep it from moving around too.  I mostly slept up front on the bench seat (with my legs hanging off/out the window or fetal though as I'm pretty tall.)  Newer hearses I think use bucket seats though which sucks for that.  You can't even recline them back to sleep because of the partition.

Has it really been since 2014 when the Smalls DGN reunions took place? Wow.

Once upon a time mods used to do things and title them as an official event, because we were running the event. I did about a half dozen of them back in the day myself.

The original intent of the Emissary was to be different from mod. Mod did events and moderated the board, emissaries were official promoters. I know because when the original conversation came up (I think I started the official conversation in staff chat, but may be mistaken) I sat with Troy at City and talked about it, as did my wife (-Siren-). It's how she ended up one. The other Emissary will never end up back here but she's another Canadian and close friend to Siren and I (she was even part of our wedding).

Every time I hear that word all I can think about is DS9 and how Kai Winn was a complete cunt.

But yeah we need more of these, and maybe some business cards they can hand out.

Hey parents, recruit your kids and put them to work in schools and malls.  Probably the last acceptable form of child labor too.

I want to reimplement a version of this with some liberties.  I will hash it out in the staff chat first.

Kai Winn was a great character. I hated her.

Yes, I was floored when I also found out she played Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Such a great actress to be able to make you hate her so much.  Though I'm sure part of that was the writing too.

Lol Holland, Michigan... what a wtf time I remember havin' out there last year. Speaking of open remodels in Michigan... I'll be vacating the Detroit area in early August now and headed to Utah to supervise a 7 week open remodel there. I prob aught' be rollin' balls myself at some point soon.

Then we should definitely try to plan a The Gathering sometime around then.

Here's the kicker... Multiple key figures of the Clan McWhitetrash have very serious things bout to go down, things that will take me out of commission... Off the jobsite. Around July 28th I will be taking my leave to attend to matters on the homestead, and remain off work until I begin the Utah remodel in Aug, likely. Everything in my world is tentatively planned but that's about accurate.

Story time? What happened?

Oh that's where I was at in Michigan last year on a 14 week Ulta open remodel, when I was active on the forum a whole lot ya know. And the stories, oh the stories... well hell you know most of them lmao, I was on here at the time. Remember the Mitsu'graffiti'bishi on concrete blocks in my Ulta store's parkin lot? Lol that was a good one. I still tell that story to people and I'm all like "Yeah I was talkin to Tron, one of the Detroit area peeps I kick it with on a badass ol' school forum I'm in, and Tron tells me the shit was an actual 'thing' so after I tagged that hoopty it was on like Vietnam, I had no idea what I was bout to start lmao. The thing even became a local landmark til it got towed away."

...you remember them days. Gawd I was scorched out there by the end of the job, straight up deep fried high speed chicken feed wasted a time or two or three or seventeen during that summer and into the fall. Ah, what a stroll down memory lane, those were some good, bad, bad good, worse, good, bad ol' times right there.

Yee'fxck'n haw y'all, and mofo gang sh!t, uh-huh.

I don't know if you was around and active back around that time, this forum's kind of the only archive of my Michigan misadventures while I was superintendent of the jobsite out there. There's too many stories to tell here I think. My  Holland stay did redeem west Michigan for me tho. Over 10 years ago I actually lived up in Muskegon for years and it left a bitter taste when I left there. Much respect for Holland and my gutter gang peeps I kicked it with there.

Well welcome relatively new-comer. Yeah if you ever go digging thru old posts, I'd say there's some wacky shit I posted while I stayed in Holland

You might want to check out this thread to start.  The "Red Neck" Show was in the What are you thinking thread.  It is usually a wild ride when @WhiteLines is on the job...or off the job...or walking around...or breathing air...

Basically just do a forum search with just about anything regarding him and you're in for a mind ride.

I aim to entertain, I'm somewhat of a secluded antisocial performance artist of sorts as well as a volunteer good will ambassador of 21st century white trash. Lol
