No for sure!

But also, imagine like actual fruit but in slushie form. That would be SO good.

Or like a gentle mint flavored slushee!

See you said mint, and now I'm thinking about the "Shamrock Shakes" from McDonalds.

Now I'm thinking about:

No one told me that late stage capitalism was such a bop

I mean I'm a capitalist, I'm just not a corporatist.  Huge difference in the two.  There is no better system that I know of for the free exchange of goods and services.

However I hate the vast majority of large corporations.  They all have done the most evil things you can imagine to amass the power and wealth that they hold and they sleep like babies at night.  They own the government and have themselves set up where the regulations that exist barely effect them but will kill any new competing business trying to get into the industry.  The market here is very much not a free one.

The only real problem with capitalism is that people are now two stupid and dependent on them to buycott anything anymore.

I'll rant more later, I gotta get ready and run to help a friend.

EDIT: The situation has been taken care of.

Anyway where was I?  Oh yeah, you don't hate capitalism you hate corporatism.  The communists have just been hammering on "capitalism bad" for so long now it's just implanted into our heads (Like I try not to say "bless you" when someone sneezes.)

Socialism and capitalism are not incompatible and we've been using democratic socialism in this country for a very long time now.  It is by no means a perfect system but it seems to work okay for most people.  There are the dirt poor that are constantly dicked over though and this needs to be fixed.  UBI is one solution, but that's yet to be tried.

Personally though I'm of the mind that taxation is theft.  If there was some type of general fund that I could voluntarily contribute to that would be great.  Or maybe if people make under a certain amount then they could pay no taxes.  I mean that exists now, but it hasn't been adjusted for inflation in YEARS, and even then heavily favors the rich who can afford it and keeps everyone else just floating above water.  It just really sucks that the system taxes you on what you own, make, sell, spend, license, and every other way it can nickel and dime you out of a buck.

Still, when compared to other systems we aren't so bad off.

I do find that most people are more than happy to GIVE resources of their own volition for the betterment of others.

I also find that every term used to express the idea you just explained is always rejected by who I use it with and a shiny new slightly adjacent one is handed back to me XD

But yes I agree completely that social systems can (and arguably should) be built under our current system and that it's a pretty smooth way to give a populous constant voting power via currency. But bailouts and tax break shananigans break the whole system.

It never ceases to amaze me the types of things that can spark just about any conversation on this forum.  Went from food to capitalism in no time flat.

~~~~~
Honestly, I had never even heard about a 7-Eleven Day until 2017 when I was helping @Moe prepare her house so she could move from her old neighborhood to her family's new home.  On July 7, 2017, there was much merriment in the air over getting a free Slurpee.  Moe was shocked that in all my years on this Earth, I had never had one.  Me, being from the inner-city, always knew of 7-Eleven as a Suburban Mart.
(Side note: do a 7-Eleven search and see how many are South of 8 mile servicing the entire Detroit area ;))
That day, I tasted my very first Slurpee and got to hang out with Moe, Chris and their kids just having a moment of much needed downtime; eating, drinking and having some fun.
Well yeah, because if it were a discussion on lack of food that would prompt a conversation about communism :P
I find the term "late stage capitalism" is often associated with that subreddit of the same name, which is heavily left leaning and doesn't offer up any real solutions to fix/replace, only destroy by everyone on it from the fence riders to the tankies.
Oh and while I'm at it check out the threads here and here.
that wasn't even on my radar as an option!! But Banana flavor sounds amazing! Dang it, not I've gone full circle again!
It was actually a special flavor limited time offer that year.  I have no idea if it stayed on the menu as I have not been to another 7-Eleven since I finished moving them into their new place.
It's been a hot minute since I've been to a 7/11 but I don't think banananana is a flavor they offer anymore. But I haven't been to a 7/11 in the US in probably years....
BTW has anyone been to a Japanese 7/11? They're very different and way better.
Yes, I have been to a 7-Eleven in Japan.  However, Lawson's was more accessible in the area they had us living in.
I shop at "One World Market" in Novi because it takes me back to all that foodie goodness that I got used to in Nihon.
    • Well it happened, understandably but it still sucks.  I hated them both so I was going to be unhappy either way, but I do admit I hate Trump slightly more because of the narcissism, egomania, xenophobia, and misogyny.  On top of that that insufferable base of his who think that they are free to act the same way now that he's won.  The apologetics from them were horrible too where they handwaved away legitimate criticisms, and mocking those who brought them with "orange man bad!"   The one good thing to come out of this is punk music is going to absolutely rock for the next few years.  However I really just have one question... https://www.loudersound.com/features/andrew-eldritch-sisters-of-mercy-will-make-another-album-if-trump-is-elected IT'S HAPPENED TWICE NOW ANDY, WHERE'S OUR FUCKIN' ALBUM‽ Well, I guess at least I'll get to keep my guns.
