Redneck vet adventures

So it's pretty common for people to need to do something for an animal and wind up doing some of the treatment at home. 

Like just today.

 

 

@et-novum's cat edgar has a foot that keeps scabing. He's on medicine for it but he keeps licking it!

 

So we had to bandage it

This did not last long and he pulled it off PROMPTLY

 

 

and becuase he was so annoyed with this process he kept biting at the medical supplies! (So cute) 

 

So then Novum got the great idea to make a cone with a paper plate. 

 

 

And now Edgar won't talk to novum. He's my cat now. Chilling in my lap. 

 

But I feel like everyone has at least one wild diy vet story.

Honestly not sure I'm a fan of that unless the edges were cut down/folded in a way that it wasn't as sharp of an edge.

Still better than one of those old actual paper plates though I'm sure.  I feel like that type is coated in plastic or something because why the hell not?

i can top this

lady i know had a mental breakdown over her dead frickin cat

had to spend 1500 on creamation

took 3 days off work

raged

almost got arrested

over a cat. ok?

thing is...she is on the prowl. lookin for a MAN to complete her.

However she lost her partial as in TEETH, in a napkin. threw them away.

Is it important enough for her to have

TEETH??!

no. 

her partial would cost 1200.

she spent it

on a dead CAT.

instead.

goes to the bar toothless

crying about her dead cat and says

'I DONT KNOW WHY I CANT FIND A MAN?!!'

We put masking tape over the edge to soften it actually! 

 

But novum is getting a real cone soon

No teeth you say?  I don't know why she can't find a man either, I bet she gives great head :P

The problem with adopting any animal that has been abused is gaining its trust.  Took us a bit with our dog but she wants to be loved and accepted so bad.  Still sometimes if you go to pet her the wrong way standing up she gets a bit scared.

 

Some animals are easier to rehabilitate than others too.  Some are just too far gone that they never really recover.  Although I've heard many stories of "they were so scared most of their life but in the last few years they warmed up." Yeah that's probably because they went senile, or somehow knew they were at the end and just stopped caring.

 

We've never really had a bad dog except for two.  One was a bit too angry nippy as a very small puppy, and the other was a rescue and nippy out of fear.  Never really owned cats but I dealt with a few, and while most were great there were a few assholes there too.  Really, animals are very much like people and each have their own personality.  Unfortunately some just happen to be sociopaths.
