The Shusters are frustrated by the campsites set up right on their property. Migrants, to build fires, have uprooted trees and other brush. On Sept. 30, Jerry Shuster shot off his gun while arguing with migrants. He was arrested and his gun confiscated.

So, if it were public land he may have been guilty of a negligent discharge.  But as it was HIS land and they were (and are still) trespassing he had every right to shoot them IF it was posted as private property with a fence around it.

Now, obviously laws vary from state to state, but federal law is pretty much everywhere.

Here's a more local news report:

Anyway back to the main subject.  I think we're only getting one side here.  If it's his land and he asked all those people to leave, and they said "no, there are hundreds of us and one of you, how about you leave?" and then got aggressive with him...  Well again maybe things didn't go that badly, or maybe the owner was an asshole, or maybe they were all assholes.

This is why Texas is great though, as they have actually sane property laws.  Those who value someone's property over their own lives are morons.

That's a hard frustrating situation for the land owner, there needs to be a solution for them and if the city/county isn't helping they're backed in an corner, totally unfair.

I mean I gave the solution.  If it's your property and you ask them to leave OR if they're up to no good you should be allowed to shoot them.
