an idea-support group

i notice many people on here want to lose weight, work out, eat right, quit smoking etc etc

so i was wondering if any of you would be interested in starting our own "support group"?

i know many people can't meet up or anything

but we could have the group have actual physical meetings (for those that want to/can) and online support for one another (for those who can't meet up or just don't want to actually meet up but would rather do it online).

we could set our goals,, share with each other recipes/work out tips/progress/fears about it, give advice or just all around support for each other.

so... anyone interested in something like this?

Support and prodding can go a long way to motivating each other... I'm interested.

My prefered exercise regimin usually involves outdoor activities... biking, hiking, walking... I don't much care for the gym... I love Punk Fitness Detroit. :swoon

I think even sharing things like healthy recipes and fitness tips online can be helpful. I've been trying to cook more lately myself. I have to stop eating so much fast food.

yay! i am glad people want to do this. even if it only ends up being a handful of us.

and i am hoping that we can even branch off into groups of people who will want to bike together, or go to the gym, or take a yoga class. anything. obviously we can't all do everything together ;) but even if we have just another person to do it with i think that helps.

my main goal here is to have a group of us who are wanting lifestyle changes more than anything. and are willing to actually follow through. :)

Brightmore?

Ok not funny. Sorry just kidding.

Though I am all for the bar thing. Like a hole in the wall bar. Not many people. Comfortable setting. I'll order a pop. Oh wait. I'm not supposed to drink pop. Lemonade then. Hmmm... a lemondrop with buffalo wings...

doh.

defeating the purpose.

Park. I vote park.

*sniff*

But, I can't come to the park! Online would be so good, though. We should do this. I know that I don't have a gym partner. I'm the only one in my gym that looks like I do, which scares the soccer moms. I really have no one to talk to about losing the extra lbs. No one in my family gives a rats butt if they are thin, but I just want to be fit, firm, and sexy as Hell.

How do we do this?

well for now i just want to see who is actually going to want to do this

then i think it would be a good idea for everyone to figure out their personal goals, what they need to do to reach them, obstacles that have been in the way, and post them.

i was thinking of making up like a *check list* type of thing with questions for everyone who is doing this to answer- sort of like making a contract with yourself.

then i wanted to get others input as to how we will go about this and make it work. basically, how we are all going to "be there for each other" and what we each have to offer one another to make this happen. i know for me i have lack of motivation/i am lazy. so i think a group effort would help me out!

And then all of you chastise me for my drinking too much over Chalupas?  **spits a rooster-tail spray of absinthe laced vomit across the cealing**

umm...eww? That has to be the most disturbing mental image I have had in a really long time.

I like the idea but in an online form, aren't we doing this already? I would be all for the meet up portion, but I am afraid that even I live a bit far from most that would be interested.

Go for it though. I encourage it muchly.

On second thought, you guys go ahead with the support group. The weekend is here, and I'd like to be a pig for a bit longer. But, I'll let you know when I intend to start a diet...

well i for one will not be going on a "diet" :grin i don't need to do that.

i will just cut certain things out (like pop and my cafe mochas) and i will exercise/move more. and not skip dinner only to end up eating at 9 or 10 at night. i have to stop doing that too.

That sounds awfully fishy...like it could turn into a diet.

diet is such a nasty word to me. always makes me think of something bad. i just hope to make some better choices in my eating habits and exercise more than anything else. i am one laaaaazy bitch. ;)

Die---diet---die---diet---die---diet---is "die" the root word of "diet"

*Also, No support group needed for me any more (congragulations Mr Hearts!!!). Mr Hearts held himself to a measly 4 drinks through 4 hours at the club on Saturday. Yes, I'm now a random drone just like all the other normal people now!
