Might Be Going Back

Some of you may remember from the old board when I used to be the counter manager for BeneFit Cosmetics here in Baltimore. Well, ever since I left, the counter has been failing miserably. The new counter manager is leaving, which leaves the counter wide open.

So, I took my resume' and application to my old managers at Hecht's this morning. Everyone saw me, despite that fact that I was totally not trying to be noticed. They told me that they were going upstairs to the management and telling them that they need me back (Aww!). I felt so good! I guess we'll see what happens. The extra $$$ never hurts, know what I mean? Now, I'll just wait and see what happens next.....

I meet with my former coordinator this Friday morning. Anything can happen. When I ran that counter, I was number one. I was alone, with no full-timer. I was the top counter in the entire region. They know that. I'm not one to assume that I'm a shoe-in, but I have a better shot.

There's no doubt that I can do it. I was #1, which is a huge acheivement for a cosmetics line that was barely known on the East Coast. But, I did it. Since I left, the counter has failed miserably due to a lack of enthusiasm. Oh, I'm sorry it's not MAC!! Guess what? I worked for MAC, and I'm pretty disappointed that you can be too vibrant, too energetic, and (get this one) TOO GAY?!?

See what happens when the Estee' Lauder Corporation buys your company? This is one of the reasons why I'm interviewing for my old job. I will not work for another Lauder company. I loved BeneFit because of their free-spirited style and products that actually WORK.

The Hecht Company wants me back. However, the upper management has yet to see my current look. They might shit themselves. However, my look is exactly what made that counter #1. Hecht's needs to get over themselves. The majority of the management is scared shitless because the Federated Corporation has bought out the May Company, which owned Hecht's.

Whether they're ready or not, I'm coming in, meeting with my former coordinator and her new Account Exec. If I come back, I'm going to do everything I can to bring that counter back to #1. If they don't bring me back, BeneFit could be pulled due to a lack of interest.

Maybe it's not me who needs the luck......

Thank you! I don't mean to sound cocky, because anyone that knows me weel can tell you that I'm not. However, they need me more than I need them. I was highly successful before. My numbers were so good that they knew about it in California. This would be like starting over. Everyone else who has tried to run that counter has failed miserably. If the store itself can get past my looks, it'll succeed again.

It's sad that we have to worry so much about our appearance... SG friends are having a piercing party in a couple weeks and I was thinking of having something else done. But everything I want to do would be viewable all the time, and I'm not ready to freak out my new employer yet. *sigh*

I'm waiting for them to try to tell me that my Crayola red hair has to be changed.

The fact of the matter is that I was the only one who could get that counter to #1 status. BeneFit has always loved my look. Hecht's has had issues with it, but because I was successful, they didn't say much. Even when they did say something, I just said okay, walked away, and never changed what they wanted me to change.

I'm getting ready to go have coffee with my dad. Then, I go to my interview. We'll see how it all goes down. I'll let you know when I get back!
