What kind of Perfume?

Recommended Posts

I like to change my perfume with the seasons. I usually wear Issey Miyake in the summer interchanged with Mariella Burani Eau Rose'.

In the winter I wear an amber/sandlewood oil mixture, Fracas or Mariella Burani Classic.

I have a pretty good collection of essential oils, fixatives and blenders but have not experimented for awhile.

I associate certain scents with bad/good memories - I can't stand Shalimar as it reminds me of this awful girl in HS. Drakkar-Noir reminds me of an old boyfriend who was an ass *makes me queasy now* - and Old Spice is the all-purpose Dad fragrance..*in fact, I had to get Zhuk to not wear Old Spice deodorant...it was like cosying up to my father when he had it on...ewwwh!!*

I have a strong sensitivity to perfume, so I can't wear it.

But I own a tiny bottle of Crystalle Chanel, and once in a while, I open it and take a tiny, tiny whiff. I LOVE that scent. If I could wear perfume, that'd be the one.

Over the years, my sisters would buy and keep around perfumes. My favorites were 70's fruit-scented ones. lemon, Lime, Green Apple.

I also recall I liked Enjoli.

I have a few old bottles, mostly gifts and whatnot from my grandmother, antique bottles that I would never actually wear. Somewhere, I have a bottle of Charlie White, and a bottle of Charlie Red, that I got from my momma. I've worn them, but they smell too... perfumey for me. In high shcool, I wore Fetish, but grew out of it.

I do dab on my wrists every day a nag champa scented oil made by a company called Sun's Eye. It doesn't smell like traditional nag champa oil, it's less fruity, with kind of a patchouli-esque edge to it, and smells more like the burned incense, not the raw stuff. If the oil made by Satya Sai Babba actually smelled like their incense, I'd wear that, but it doesn't for some reason.

I've looked into perfumes, but generally I pick stuff that's not suited to me. I enjoy rose scents, and things with sandalwood and patchouli, dark woody florals, but just can't seem to match my body chemistry with anything other than the oil I use now. Maybe I need a perfume consultant. Then again... I can make a one ounce eight dollar bottle of oil last a year and a half... why change a good thing?

I pretty much only wear oils, except for Chanel # 5 which I only wear to work. Oh and I have this body sray stuff from Bath and Body Works..Moonlight Path.

Oils I wear:

Rose

Jasmine

Patchouli

Wisteria

Violet

Hyacinth

Nag Champra

Dragon's Blood

and this one called Rogue, which sort of smells like Opium.

*gah...* I was eville and went to Sephora last night...had to sniff all the yummy new/old perfumes.

I got a wee bottle of Amazing Grace *yum* and pined over a bottle of Fresh Apricot-Fig Cologne ($65 - sigh!!)....OMG - smelling it was like taking a bite of the best part of summer and letting the juice run down your chin. *drools copiously*

I'm afraid to say what scents I use, for fear the everyone will end up smelling like me and I won't be memorable anymore.

Yes, I realize that's insane. I'm just sayin'.

lol - I think the same perfume smells so different on different people as to be almost unrecognizable at times ;)

eg. friend of mine had a bottle of Gucci Rush...we both put some on. On her, it developed a wonderful spicy afterglow, on me it smelled like cat pee.

that is what my mother has always worn. that smell makes me think of her- like it is HER smell. :grin

i can't do perfumes. though i have liked anais anais in the past and some lilac one or was it lily of the valley. not sure.

for oils i like fruity ones, or musky ones, or vanilla. i usually wear vanilla be when i wear something/buy an oil. i wore some cherry one before that i liked but that was like 5 or 6 years ago... not sure i would do that scent now.

i usually just wear lotions with scent if i want to have a *scent* on me.

i used to wear anais anais with victoria secret vanilla lace hand cream. the combination apparently was wonderful because people would smell me all the time and comment on how wonderful i smelled. my old roommate (friends boyfriend at the time) often attacked me when i had the two on. and people hugging me would linger for a long time, smelling me telling me how much they loved the smell. maybe i was on to something ;) i had forgotten about all that til this thread.

I guess you could say I collect perfumes and oils. I have a pretty extensive collection.

For oils I really like this one called Tropical sun and I have another called Angel that I wear alot as well...its very similiar to the Angel perfume.

I recently got introduced to Chocolate Fondue from Bath and Body works and I like that. The Creme Brulee one smelled really good too as I noticed Brenda mentioned it.

Lately I have been wearing Realm alot (has phermones in it) and Halloween. I also got this one from Avon called Instant Vacation that smells really good.

I like almost all of Dior's fragrances and an older one that I wear occasionally is Fire and Ice by Revlon.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
