Any Ideas

Recommended Posts

Put healthy snacks in there. No one needs the others anyway. He will probably eat less (if thats what you are looking for) AND it is best to eat smaller meals more often anyway. So he eats a smaller portion at mealtimes? Less for you to cook! Nothing is wasted.

(and I think i remember you saying you wanted to lose weight too ;) )

i agree- healthy snacks in there only. well i don't actually keep any kind of snacks in my house. i hate snack foods- well junk food anyways. i don't buy chips or cookies or candy or anything like that ever. occasionally i will buy tortilla chips and salsa or popcorn. but really nothing else.

i buy fruits and vegetables. my kids love that stuff though so they will ask for an apple or a banana or carrots. if that is what is there to eat, they will eat it. on the other hand i am lucky that my kids have always liked that stuff so it is not an issue with them. then when they go to grandma's or something they can have all that crap i can't stand and then it is a 'treat' and is never expected.

Stop buying any snacks that arn't healthy for awhile. Light popcorn....fat free pretzels....carrott stix.

on what I can do to keep my son OUT of the snack cupboard.  I feed him plenty.  I've told him to ask before he gets something.  But about every 45 minutes to an hour he's in the snackies.  Any ideas??

Boobie Traps. Non-Lethal ofcourse.... Like a bull horn that goes off when he opens it.

He might fall off the counter!!! He stands right up there! It's funny looking to.

just leave celery in there

the taste of that vile poisonous plant should put him off

think of it as aversion therapy

I usually have granola bars, cereal, sugar free wafer cookies, pretzels that sort of thing. If I offer to make him something then he's not interested. I'm just frustrated. I dunno.

There are tons of fruit and veges in the house. Not much junk any more. Only sometimes. Although my sometimes is more than it should be.

We used to have bagS of chips, regualr cookies, icecream, candy and sugary cereals. We are getting better. Yesterday I gave them Chef Boyardee crap for lunch, then put a plate out with baby carrots, snow peas, cucumber slices and green pepper slices. MIchael ate them but aym complained that they all tasted strange. UGH! But by 4 most of the plate was empty.

What I've been trying to do for the last few weeks is this. Have something for breakfast then mothing until lunch which is about 3 hours later. Then 4 o'clock is snack time. Dinner. then a little something before bed.

We've even set the timer! Makes me feel like I'm depriving him, but I know I'm not!

Now that I've gone through all of this discussion I think I know what the problem may be.

Most days I either have a headache or some sort of tension (I'm going to the doc in a couple weeks). I think what it is , is that I don't want to have to bother being strict with him. You know, get up and go in the kitchen and tell him to get down, stand there and argue and all that crap.

Also, if anyone know of some good web sites or cookbooks about healthy cooking-mostly cooking with whole grains, I have lots on low sugar. That would be appreciated.

As to how to help it, I use a baracade to the kitchen door. THAT IS THE ONLY THANG THAT SEEMS TO WORK FOR ME!!!!!! Otherwise, the kids try to get into the fridge and everywhere else. Now for my brother......hmmmm.....who knows, maybe SOMEONE can help ME with that one..... My mom recieves food stamps and she barely gets 1000 a month otherwise and there is her and us sinlings. I thought the same thing.

Unless Marblez is a...........*whispers*...food snob!!!!!!! j/k

I used to eat them. Not all the time, but I don't care for them any more. NOt much stuffing in them to be worth the fat and empty cals and carbs. If I'm going to eat something bad, it's going to statisfy.

Food snob? uh!

Nope, not actually. No offense intended, though I am sure it could be read that way. I just thought there were certain things that were approved and anything that was packaged like that was not allowed. Like you could buy the ingredients to make something like that but not something that was already prepared.

I myself am quite poor when it comes to income vs expensive but I would be way over the limit to get assistance so I have to do what I can.

I personally don't buy things like that usually because i consider them to be too expensive compared to the ingredients to prepare them yourself.

I'll have to plead the fifth when it comes to fast food - but I have gone to using coupons for that stuff.
