Okay i have this

I have no idea if it works or even how to check it out and if i did have the right stuff to find out if it works i would have no idea if it worked proplerly.

I want to sell it but obviously if i have no idea if it even works i cant sell it

Does any one know how i could check this to see if it wroks and how well with out the extras it is supposed to have and if not does any one have a system in which i could test this thing on.

Thanks so much

Holy shit, we might even be able to use that at Mephisto's.

I have one here that I need to rewire and fix because idiot DJs don't know how to use the equipment properly and wires broke and it's a mess inside.

I'll try it at Mephisto's (looks like a rope light controller to me). If it works I'll buy the damn thing off of you for a reasonable price. Look up the model number on e-bay.

Bring it in whenever you want. I'm usually there most of the time.

Bah, after closer inspection, looks like it won't work!

The controller for the light string appears to be a power connector (reverse) like you'd find on your computer's power cord.

In theory I could take the end I have on this one, and splice it to a computer's power cord, but I wouldn't want to try it as I could short something out.

Also i could hardly find any information on it in both e-bay and google. Wherever did you find this item?

I'm still almost positive it's either a rope light or a strobe light controller (since it does say xenon line and most strobe lights that are any good use xenon bulbs).

To tell ya the truth i have no idea where we got this, Lestat has a knack for find odd things. :blink

I too could not find alot of info on it so i was hopeing some one here might know something about it. I dont make it out very often and i have never been to meph. If i can what i will do is see if some one can take it with them when they go and you can play around with it and see what you come up with. It looks like the connector part might be replacable because of the way it is srewed in.

You were recomended by HH and well i trust her, so you are more then welcome to see what you can do with it and have fun wit htis ODD Piece.

k, I make no guarentee I won't blow anything up but I'll look at it, maybe take it apart and look up some of the inside componants. Maybe loan it to my friend Todd who really is just an electronics wizard. I'll even try the DJ forums (MANY people who are good at what they do and deal with stuff like this all the time). I'm sure someone on there will know something, more than likely anyhow.

that would be great I talk with HH she said she would bring it hte next time she comes, might be a few weeks.

I did how ever talk with Lestat more about this and he said he has had it for ever even befor we were married, so it is rather old more then 10 years i would guess, he said he dont remebr where he got it but he knew it was for lights n stuff so he nabbed it up thought it might be usefull some day.

Any how the point is it is just taking up space here and if i can find out if it works some one might want it and if it is just a POS then it needs ot be scavanged for what ever usefull aprts iti has and then gotten out of my way. I AM A MAD WOMAN CLEANIG HOUSE!!!!! lol lol

THank you for looking in to this i do apperciate it allot as i have no idea where or how to really go about it and i just really have a hard time just throwing stuff away that could be used.

thanks again

  • 2 weeks later...

I asked about it on the fxuser.com forums which a LOT (pretty much everyone on it) of DJs hang out that use that software. One guy said the following.

"It is a strobe controller. It is for the old tube strobes that linked together.

They have the exact unit mounted in an old club in my area."

Just an update.
