Well I had a failed {half hearted} attempt last fall with Smoke Away! However it did seem to take the edge off! This is funny I was so nauseous earlier every time I tried to smoke I had to put it down,so I told myself that when I wake up I'm not going to smoke! But I'm not a quitter {ha} so I had a nightmare woke up like 15 minutes ago and talked myself into having just one more..... :whistling

"Winners never quit. Quitters never win."

I think I'm getting old.

My man did it but he is an exceptional human being. Tried many times then one day just got fed up and quit. It was easy at that point...he was like a drug addict....just got fed up with it.

He used meditation.....rose quartz and peppermint tea to help get over his cravings....sounds crazy, but it's what Scott Cunningham recomended in one of his books.

My doc told me to quit smoking pot as I actually got asthmatic this yr but I am not quiting. :confused

Been quit for 142 days today. It was the hardest thing I ever did, honestly. The hardest thing you can do is not smoke a cigarette. I don't care what anybody says. Cold Turkey. No Patch, No gum, No Weening down.....it is more torturous that way. Go Here: quitnet.net or whyquit.com both helped me to make a decision. The worst thing is, when you are in those first few days, you tend to forget why you quit in the 1st place b/c all you want is a smoke. Knowing others are going through what you are going through helps. And to talk about it and recieve encouragement to keep quit is key.

Know this: You will rage out. You will want to cry. You will want to punch things, hurt yourself, not want to enjoy ANYTHING ever again, You'll eat everything in your path, look for other fixes that don't even come close, find alternatives, never want to drink, go to the bar,......etc.....TEMPORARILY the first month is crucial to keeping away from these things, and as you start to do them again, it will be hard, but is doable. The first week is VERY bad, but it is possible with a little determination and self discipline......which is really hard if all you can think about is a smoke.....

HOWEVER.....it DOES get better. And you WILL feel better....at the time you don't care, but it WILL PASS.....

I smoked for over 10 years. pack a day. IDIOT. :doh

DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!

I wish I could wake up tommorrow a non-smoker.  Has anyone quit??  Any tips, recommendations?

I smoked for 15 years, a pack a day and I quit. I went "cold turkey" and it only took me about two weeks. I just drank a lot of water and I also chewed sugar-free gum when the cravings got really bad. I think the trick to it is that you have to just accept that it's going to be a bit painful to quit, you know? -If it get's real bad just take deep breaths, count to 10 or fuck it, count to 20, but just don't smoke. The hardest part is driving passed the store in the morning and not buying them but if you can do that the first day, that's the hardest part, you're half-way there.

I also quit cold-turkey. I found that using nicotine replacement products just prolongs the pain. Chew lots of gum *as mentioned above :-) * and start

exercizing like a madman...It will do wonders for your mental state - and as your lungs heal it will become easier.

I also covered my desktop with oral/lung cancer photos gleaned from the web...I stuck one in my car to remind me not to buy any/think about cigarettes.

I saved up and used the money I used to spend on cigarettes to buy new perfume and clothing. (no point in buying nice things if they always reek.)

Good luck~

Thanks for the input. My mom died of cancer last year, apparently from a genetic form of lung cancer. The doctor noted that I am a "ticking time-bomb". And I've been coughing more than usual lately.

After years of abuse, it might be time to start paying attention to my health. The hard part is, my workplace. High-stress is the understatement of the year. People in their 30's have actually started smoking while working there.

Dude let me give you some advice.

First, start off by cutting down the smoking a little bit.. Instead of smoking in your house, smoke outside. This will help get you to cut down as you won't want to go outside every 10 minutes to light one up..

Once you've managed to cut back for a few days try your hardest not to have a smoke just before bed.. Try to catch your last cig at least 30 minutes before hitting the sack.

The next day, don't have that morning cigarette when you wake up.. Just don't do it.. Hopefully you'll have gone through the first major nic-fit while you were asleep.

Buy gum, blow-pops, something to keep your mouth busy to relieve the oral fixation of smoking a cigarette.

Don't think about cigarettes.. Stay away from smokers as much as possible for the first week and tell your friends not to smoke around you.
