I see it in her eyes

But she doesn't see the green in mine

Her laugh is a series of silver chimes

Her voice calling to me out of the depths of my pain

She does not know her charm

She cannot see her seductions

At nite I close my eyes to sleep

And then I see them together

Laughing and joking, but not quite happy

Both want something different from each other

And neither sees me watching

To them I am a friend without desires or secrets

A companion for singing and games

My thoughts echo my wants

And my heart reigns with my loyalty

Loyalty to someone I will never fully know

And respect for someone I cannot have

Those two hold each other close

And I think of their love

My friend yearns, for what - she has truly yet to learn

My weakness loves another one several miles away

Neither knows of the power curiosity holds between their life and myself

Their freedom, their pain

I long to reach out and touch her, to softly kiss her

To make her eyes flutter

But this cannot be

For as they have chosen one road to live their life by

I have forsaken the one road that would connect our two worlds

And have been trained to avoid their life

For me there is only the isolation of my persuasion

To watch them there is pain to see their freedom

For them there is only the pain of the heart caused by distance and change
