Fierce Critter
A 2nd bout of food poisoning in 3 years has convinced me of this. Both times from restaurants there. I'm not one to rush to the doctor at every little problem - certainly not the ER. But after 3 hours of violent vomiting & other assorted nastiness that just got worse and worse, to the ER we went. Last time this happened was about 2 weeks after we moved down here. I had eaten at a little restaurant by myself, and ended up violently ill. The lovely people at the hospital gave me a miracle drug via I.V. that instantly stopped the nausea. I was hoping for the same thing yesterday. INstead, I was greeted with a full waiting room, and about a 2-3 hour wait before I could even get into a bed. In the meantime, I put the waiting room restroom to full use, and during a weak moment, dropped my tray and had to ask for a freakin' hospital gown and "clean up, stall 3". Once they finally got me in a bed, it took 3 doses of the medication over about 3 hours to get the nausea to stop. They pumped me full of fluids and also gave me an antibiotic in case I had something they claimed was "going around". Even so, I still got sick again after coming home and attempting a few sips of gatorade. Funny that this happens to me after I started a new workout & health-food program. Yeah - REAL funny... Ginevra
Ack. I'd say not go back to that particular town with the purpose of eating if you can avoid it, eh?
Fierce Critter
3 times in 4 months??? OMG - I'd be dead. I mean, I can handle a little "being sick". But when you're hugging yourself, crying and begging someone to make it stop...
