Fierce Critter
I don't recall making any recent changes to my laptop. But for the first time in my DGN history - both EZB & IPB - I have to login EVERY time I open my saved link. It's not that way on my desktop PC, so I'm figuring it's something on my laptop, not IPB. But I figured I'd ask here anyway. I checked my security settings, which is no easy task with the stupid new way AOL's preferences are set-up in the newest version. I can't see where I'm NOT allowing cookies, and my settings are high enough for safety, but low enough to allow cookies. At least I THINK so. It wasn't always like that on this laptop. This is a pretty recent thing. Thoughts???
Onyx
Me too. Just started today.
Ginevra
I don't know if it makes a matter or not but I've never been able to keep the login cookies set on my machine but I think it has something to do with my firewall rather than the board. The only time they'll stay is if I don't close out the browser. If I close and re-open, the cookies for the board are lost.
Fierce Critter
Not sure which of these actions did the trick, but it's working again for me: 1) I re-installed AOL, not just 'cause of this problem, I needed to because I needed the broadband version on here (I think it was still not working after I did this though). 2) I deleted my saved favorites for DGN, re-opened DGN, logged in, and saved a new favorite. Now I'm logged in every time I access my favorite place.
Dubh Aingeal
Are you running XP? If so you might want to check security settings there as well... Due to some of the recent hotfixes I've heard people complain at work about sites no longer allowing them to login correctly...
Fierce Critter
Yeah, I am. But I was long before this problem crept up, so I dont' know why it all of a sudden started the other day. I'm not versed in the technical aspects of using XP. Are these "hotfixes" something that happens automatically?
Dubh Aingeal
Yeah its very possable they do... The last service pack (sp2) turns Automatic Updates on and sets a time (3am I think) to do update installations. You can check to see if its set up that way by going to control panel and clicking on the Automatic Updates icon. It will say if its turned on and wether its set to automatically do it or to download and notify you of the updates... All though with you being on Dial up service I don't know if it would try and connect itself to do the updates or not... I've not dealt with a dial up setup in quite a while...
