Nienna
Hey! I need help! I lay out my pills every morning and then take then before I brush my teeth... except today Icky (my cat) got to them first. As far as I can tell, he ate most of a 400mg Chromium Picolonate, and was chewing on a gel capsule diet pill. The pill only had holes in it, but it's a caffene based pill. Is this going to kill him?? I'm really freaked out about it, and had to run to work before I could really do anything.
Soulrev
Chromium Picolinate isn't likely to do anything harmful to the cat. As far as the gel capsule, I wouldn't worry about it, as you described it, it doesn't sound like the cat could have possibly consumed enough to effect it. The cat will be fine. Homicidalheathen
I know this falls under cat abuse but....when I was a drug addict...I left my meth out and my kitty snorted awhole line. He loved it.... I told my dealer all freaked out and he said he had to keep the cats out of it that they loved it....
Nienna
Yeah.. kitty likes weed alot too.. He's an addictive personality. I guess the diet pill made him hyper, he was really playful when my friend went over there, but he seemed fine and hadn't gotten sick or anything.. I just have bad kitty luck. I have my old girl kitty and she never has anything happen to her, and any other kitty I get meets an early demise. I think the old kitty is evil and setting up the new ones! I'm a paranoid pet owner now.
Fierce Critter
I think SR is right on this one. Sometimes, SP is sprinkled on cat's food to help balance blood sugar levels. Just keep her under observation today. And it doesn't sound like she got any of the diet pill contents in her. Sorry I didn't respond quicker, but I'm not sitting on the 'net like I did back south. =)
Soulrev
Yeah just be careful about leaving pills out like that. Maybe put them somewhere where the cat won't easily get them next time.
Troy Spiral (13)
In case of future problems here are some phone numbers of Vets local to you, im sure they'd be willing to help out with questions such as this if it was urgent (or probably even if its just a generalized question) Hilldale Veterinary Hospital (248) 356-7360 North Branch Animal Hospital (248) 557-7773 Greenfield Animal Hospital (248) 557-1636 I hope Icky-Maru is ok. =)
Nienna
Ickymaru is just fine, though he ran around here like a bat out of hell for like 24 hours.. *L* Thanks for the info you guys!
Fierce Critter
Troy did a smart one there - they'll probably happily answer questions like that for free. In case of poisoning, here's the animal poison hotline: 888-232-8870 - but there is a fee, and I seem to remember it being steep, something like $50 per incident.
