i have figured it out! i know why myspace URL's aren't working!

it is my experience, just now, that instead of the short url, you need to use the one that appears at the top of the window, that has the friend ID in it (when you are looking at the main profile page, what appears in the URL bog AT THE TOP OF YOUR BROWSER PAGE.

looks like this:

(that will take you to the same place as clicking "HOLDtheBACON" in my signature... and yes, i fixed it)
