I remember the "study", Marblez is correct on the center being Livonia... discounting statisitical outliers....

Sadly, I never made it out due to school or buggery.... or buggery at school...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Pardon me, I am not very um...edjukated... butt....

Actually, I think I did pretty well on that "study" your word, not mine ;).

Of course, not knowing everyone's address, I used city centers on the map. I accounted for each individual (3 in Royal Oak was counted as x3 while 1 in roseville counted as x1), then actually drew something like a 20 mile radius around each of them and the point which had the highest value of intersecting circles was considered the center.

I thought that was the most fair way... was it not?

I'll teach you to agree with me DAMNIT!! lol...

you gotta break it down further than that because of side roads and one way streets.

Maybe start getting people to volunteer what freeway and exit they are closest to?

I'm good with maps I'll help.

nope, an hour to livonia from sterling heights is not entirely exaggerated. depends on traffic and construction. also depends on what parts of each place we mean. could be anything from 35mins(absolute min, in my guess, and im pretty damn good at this) to about an hour, hour and 15.

id put an average time at 45min.

that said, all things considered, it probably is fairly close to halfway for all the people involved, more or less. IMO though, geographical location is not as important as accessiblity. anything close to major freeways with good access is going to be alot easier. ferndale/royal oak would probably also be a good location because of accessibility (except, perhaps, for the more westerly folks).

Being one of the many westerly folks, I would have to agree with that part of the statement. However, Livonia, say near the interchange of I-96 and I-275 is not a bad choice. There is a Denny's only 1 exit from that spot, at Ann Arbor Road.

Ann Arbor Road and I-275 is just about the centerpoint on I-275 between I-696 and I-94. Highly accessible to the easterly and westerly folks, not to mention those in the Downriver areas.

im about 35-45 min from 275/96 (i know this because i know a few folks out that way). but it wouldnt be a bad drive for most of us east-siders, if the construction was down a bit. 94/96 interchange has been screwed all summer (my game club meets in redford, near plymoth and beech-daly, so this has screwed me a few times).

im not partial to dennys, if another location is viable nearby. if not, hey, whichever.

most folks could grab 696 over there without much trouble, from this side o town.

Since no one ever organized it...I thought I'd bring this back up. Do we have any interest in this?? I again would reccommend the Royal Oak area, only because there are so many great places here. If that is too far for some, perhaps a second outing to the Livonia area is possible.

I am not sure that is exactly true.

no he is probably right. livonia is a good drive for me too from where i am, though i am closer.

i'd be up for livionia or royal oak. royal oak is closer but i do head out to livonia and even northville from time to time. though i do prefer the royal oak location. ;)

yeah that thing that sucks for us over this way is the freeway situation.
