Because they are used in all sorts of fancy dinners as toppers. Also on cakes. They do that because of the fact that when you cut a flower, the water and food with in the plant leaks out as it is trying to heal it's self.Thus killing the flower head almost instantly. The Orchid is one of the few flowers that when cut, doesn't wilt.

Do I need a life?
