For those who live in Ypsilanti...

Recommended Posts

I actually need some info from those who live in, near or spend loads of time in the general Ypsi area.

I have visited Ypsi, but don't have a good feel for jobs and apartments in that area.

I have extensively visited A2 as well and have a good feel for that area, but IF/when I relocate it will probably be to Ypsi, as the A2 thing isn't gonna happen.

Anyway, anyone have opinions on Ypsi to share?

Much appreciated.

I live in Ypsilanti, in the Depot town area to be exact, I have lived in a couple of apartments in the area, most recently "Spice Tree" they were not too bad as far as pricing goes, and they allow cats and dogs of all sizes. I have also lived in "Apple Tree" apartments, they were a bit more "Ghetto" for lack of a better term, but I never had any huge problems. Other than that, I would say that living a little ways away from campus is good for the sake of peace and quite, and Ypsi kind of has an undeserved bad reputation, most of the areas are just fine/safe.

Stay away from the college housing area, which tends to be mixed in with the low-income, if any at all, renters. I lived on Emmet St and then Pearl for 3 years between the two of them. Had my truck broken into right in front of my bedroom window under a mercury light mind you. That sort of thing happens a lot during move in time in the late summer. Its due to the fact that police are stretched thin trying to keep the neighborhood from blowing itself up.

ypsi sucks...I know Ive lived here too long now..the only things good about it are depot town and emu...if you can even consider that a bonus at all. The only reason I still live here is because I work in ann arbor at a job I actually like and I'm working on my bachelors degree at emu. I dont know why, but the longer I stay in Ypsi the more I hate it.
