Dear [adultswim],

Yesterday I saw a billboard for the Boondocks in Detroit. This marks

1) The first [adultswim] billboard I've ever seen

and

2) The first billboard for a TV show I've ever seen in Detroit

All the others are for cars and hospitals.

AdultSwim Response:

"Cool."

Yeah, I saw that bump and I was wondering if it was you. I wanted to PM you and ask but I was too lazy. Araignee beat me to it. ;P

For a clueless, non-TV watching Ferndale retiree....

What, praytell, is a "bump", who is (adultswim) and what is this Boondocks thing?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Correction it's [AdultSwim]

and bumps are the few seconds of airtime inbetween the commercial and the show. It's all mostly the creators of [AdultSwim] "talking" to ya, or showing things like SomeDanGuy's comments from the Forum or wherever else.

oh yeah and [AdultSwim] is a Program of sorts on Cartoon Networks late at night (sat-thurs 11pm...or well starting sunday it's 10pm) they play Family Guy, Futurama, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Samauri Champloo, ummm...and whole shit load of other shows.

It Really Kicks ass. I never miss a night.

You spelled [Adult Swim] wrong.

That also marks the first nonsarcastic reply I've ever seen. He is double famous.

I think they just aired it because Boondocks is going to premier soon.

One of the reasons people like [adultswim] a lot is because of all their personal interaction with viewers. They tell us about stuff going on at the office, and they occasionally broadcast on TV posts at the [as] message board. Usually the reply is mocking and funny.

Oh, and Boondocks has long been a comic strip that is usually very political, satirical (sp?), and liberal. A cartoon show version of it is going to air on Nov 6

Oh... dammit... I looked for that before I posted mine... sometimes, I just don't see things anymore. "sigh" oh well.

Here's what I said, since I'm sure my other one will get lost, or deleted, or something. cause it should. it should run away, right now!

I was innocently watching Family Guy on adult swim wednesday night, when they did one of those annoying "quotes from people on our message board" or whatever things. It was about somebody seeing a billboard in detroit for a cartoon, I believe - I only half paid attention at first. They said that "most of (the billboards) are for hospitals and cars." What really caught me was that the message was from SomeDanGuy.

Now, I doubt many people from detroit go around calling themselves SomeDanGuy on the net. So, ya know, I could be wrong, but it's just not likely.

It made me feel neat, and connected, and "holy shit, someone I know from detroit who I've never even met in person is making tv appearences in alaska!"

Cool. Here's to you, Dan. World renowned and stuff. Cheers.

neener neener neener!

hehe, people have been coming out of the woodworks to tell me they saw my bump on TV. And I don't mean from here on DGN; people from my school and ancient past who I've never talked to before!

I hear Alaska started a new billboard campaign with the slogan "Before You Die" to encourage visiting Alaska. I'll let you know when I'm in the area, and then you can say someone you HAVE met has made an appearance on TV.
