HELP know of any jobs for kids 16-18

Recommended Posts

Okay I am on here asking for help, I have been promoted to a facilitator at work and job developer, and in need of anyone who knows of any jobs in the Detroit area who will hire and are hiring kids 16-18 years old? (actually even 14 and 15)

I have found a few bagging positions, but that is about it. Just need to know and would like any help if at all possible. :) Most of the kids that come through our program are disadvantaged, and really need part time jobs. :grin

I apprechiate it very much...

Thank you

Cart attendants, baggers, moppers/sweepers. . . . .that's about all there is for kids of that age. Check with Mom & Pop bakeries. Kids could work the counters without having to actually touch money so there's less issues.

Starting out as something "small" isn't always so bad. My oldest nephew started out working at KFC in Southern Ohio just doing the normal stuff in the kitchen. Started working there when he was a little over 16 if I remember correctly. The day he was 18, they made him assistant manager for the store in about 2-3 years time, he was promoted to district manager. He applied himself, worked hard and took advantage of any opportunities that came his way.

Excellent ideas..I definately want to see if there are any mom and pop bakeries. I just found a dollar store that was hiring. Just seems harder for them to get jobs. I worked with adult males after they were on parole/probation before, and it was easier. But it was years ago.....

thanks for the good ideas...and job leads...tomorrow I am going to the targets and the malls to see what they have available.

i know its not exactly anyone's dream job, but fast food is almost always hiring. most of them you have to be 16 for. i worked as asst mgr at taco bell for two years and our turn-over rate was HUGE, so i was hiring people usually every week or so. with a high turn over rate, they always need fresh blood... i know i did.

i had friends that worked in resturants at the age of 14, 15, 16 as dishwashers.

other friends at the age of 16 working at places like arbors... well now cvs... as stock people.

other friends when they were younger working at chuck e cheese, toys r us, pizza places, movie theatres, working various places in the mall....
