next to the kitchen sink

Recommended Posts

My roomate, my ex, that guy I know, he's a weird kind of guy. Sometimes, I just wonder about the things he does.

In our kitchen, the sink is at a strange angle in one corner, diagonal like. On the right hand side of it, I keep a small dish drainer on a towel. On the other side is where the dirty dishes usually end up prior to washing, but mostly, I prefer to keep it clear of stuff, otherwise it eventually leads to the whole counter being cluttered with crap, trash, empty pop bottles, recycling stuff, etc. I hate that.

We have a dishwasher, which I use. It is Scott's job to empty out the dishwasher and empty any dishes from the drainer by the sink. This ensures that I am able to wash dishes on a regular basis. This way we both share in some part of the dirty dish responsibility. When he fails to do his part, I can't wash dishes, and they start to pile up, which really freakin' bugs me. He has a tendancy, also, to leave various kinds of trash and recycling stuff on the counter, about ten times more often than me. The tradition is to rinse out recycling, and put it in the bin. This includes most often some kind of cup or soda bottle, which requires having it's top taken off and thrown away before placting said cup or bottle in the recycling bin. The trash can is on the way to the recycling bin, the sink is on the other side of the room.

Bare with me here.

Today, I found in the kitchen a cup from a movie we went to go see. It's a plastic cup, of a type which is recyclable. However, the cup no longer has the cap to it. This perplexes me for several reasons. For one, he left the cup on the counter by the sink. Grr. Two, he somehow managed to go over to the trashcan to throw away the lid, but still placed the cup on the counter. Three, any of the three places he cound have put that cup to make me not get annoyed, he didn't.

The places he could have put the cup: he may have meant to keep the cup, but since the dishwasher was empty, he could have just placed the cup in the dishwasher, instead of leaving it dirty on the counter. He may have meant to throw away the cup, but apparently was unable to do so when he threw away the lid. He could have meant to recycle the cup, but then why didn't he just put it in the recyling, when he was over by the trash? Instead he walked all the way over to the other side of the room, to put it by the sink, when it would have been faster to just pause one more second, take one more step, whiled next to the trash can, to deposit the cup in the recycling bin.

It's like... he wasn't just being lazy, because he bothered to work extra hard to do it the way that would surely annoy me. I just don't get it. What a fuckin' weirdo.

:laughing He really cracks me up, sorry about all that. It's very... Homer J. Simpson-esque to me

my best friend (yea, a guy) spends a ton of time at my house and for some reason has developed the habit of when he uses the last ice cubes out of one of the 4 icecube trays in my freezer he chooses to then place the empty tray back in the freezer under the full trays. he doesnt refill it and replace it. he doesnt put it in the tub in the sink allocated for dirty dishes. he doesnt even tell me about it. he just puts the empty tray back in under all the full ones. if i dont catch it he'll continue to do so until they are all empty so when i go to get some ice ill get the last cube from the top tray and lift it to find all three trays underneath are empty. he has done this multiple times. i have asked him not to do this. ive told him not to do this. once i was so annoyed i threw the empty trays at him and demanded he refill them immediately. yet it continues...... he says there is nowhere 'better' to put them. and his reason for not refilling them first? he doesnt have one! Ugh! its totally maddening.

I'd have probably resorted to violence by now.

i cant afford to be messay at my folks's i usually end up cleaning it up and try and fit in all the other things i haveto do in a day whilst allowing for downtime (here, or in the armoury lifting things) which is usually interupted

i used to be messy, but since coping with a deranged ex and now my mother (who has had 3 mini strokes lately, which has made her forgetfull), has given me an understanding why things must be clean and tidy, but i'm not nurotic yet. may cars still a fuckin tip, my sister stood for 3 seconds at my car the other day. i'd cleaned out the rear footwells
