I periodically have to disappear and come back due to health. Once due to no computer cuz the fucker blew but mostly due to health.

Sometimes I forget to come to DGN for a few months at a time... but I dont that that anyone misses my sarcasim most of you get it in IM or email or IRL anyway so missing the DGN part is probably not all that bad....

i've been and gone many times. Been here and back since seems like forever.

I found DGN from Troy hanging around Vampirefreaks, anothe ancient board I posted on before.

Anyway, for as much as I used to not like DGN in it's original incarnation, their feeling for me was often mutual.

However, now DGN is an afterthought and I come here to have fun and not take it too seriously.

I will credit DGN with changing my life in one respect- had I not come to DGN years ago, I would probably have never gone to Michigan, never met wondeful man to love and made some great friends.

Overall DGN effected my life in a very positive way. I doubt I'd ever leave permanently.

There are times I have been away for a week or so.  Mostly I've been busy or just not in the mood to be on the computer.

I have thought about leaving.  Sometimes I feel like no one cares about what I have to say.  Someone will ask for advice, I'll give my opinion along with others.  The person seeking the advice will comment on everyones comment but mine!  Irritates the crap out of me.

People have added me to various friends and message lists, yet no one contacts me.  I can't cry about that too much though, I have a hard time saying hello to new people or those I don't know well.  Once I get to know you I don't shut up.

Slowly some of the people here are becoming extended family. 1 person in particular, you know who you are, has been helping me keep my head straight and focused properly and I thank you for that. Maybe now my posts will sound less pathetic and more joking when I post about myself. There are others who have helped make me feel welcome and I thank them. There are many others I look forward to meeting one day.

YES, I have considered leaving for a few reasons, 1 already stated above. My main reason for considering it is my age. Wondering if I fit in etc etc... Saw a guy at Luna's last week. Got me wondering if I was like that, single guy trying to fit in, trying to dance with ladies who just moved away thinking what a creep(if that is what they were thinking altho the way they looked at him, one wonders what they were thinking, didn't look good) So it got me wondering if people would see me like that here. If I was more an outsider looking in thru a window.(weird random thoughts strike again) Anyway I decided to give it more time, time to meet more peole and see where it goes so for now I am sticking around even tho the run away and hide feelings are getting stronger. Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

I took it more seriously when I was a moderator. I really cared about the quality of the board and the happiness of those who considered it a little "home away from home." Spent a lot of time "policing" more than just posting.

But I got shot down one too many times by other mods for taking it too seriously. So I quit modding (not the entire reason, but a big one).

I don't take it as seriously anymore, 'cause I no longer have a hand in the quality/non-quality of the board itself. I really don't give a rat's ass.

It's made it easier for me to actually enjoy myself here, let things roll off my back, take people for who/what they are and express my true opinions more.

And it gives me the option of using "ignore". :grin

I do think that people who complain about the "play nice rules" here are full of complete and total shit and need to spend time on boards without such rules if they don't like it here. There are plenty of boards out there where flaming, misogyny, racism & intolerance is the norm and they're welcome to them.

I maintained as a mod and I still stand by the fact that opinions are never censored here - only the way they are expressed. You can debate ad infinitum about the merits/flaws of a given thing, more power to you. It's when things devolve into name-calling, slander, slurs & attack that mods step in - and more power to them.

If you can't debate/discuss an issue without stooping to name-calling, incendiary language & other Jr. High tactics, grow the fuck up and please - do it on some other board's time.
