Fierce Critter
I'm not buying one anytime soon. But there are a couple for sale on eBay that I'm in love with. They're fully boned, lace-up backs, clasps of some sort on the front. They're fully functional corsets with all the usual trimmings you see on better ones. The big difference is - they have a side zipper for easy exit. At first, I was a bit turned off. I mean, I can't even stand zippers on boots. But then I got to thinking... what a good design for emergency exit. I mean, think about it. If something happens and you gotta get outta that thing in a hurry, ZIP! You're free! I dunno. Maybe, if we're careful, I'll be able to get one around Christmas time. I'm thinking these zippered designs might actually be a benefit.
Crazed Vampyress
the only concern i would have would be having a high quality zipper. i mean ive had boots where the zippers just slid right on down all the time, and since a corset is supposed to be tight, the zipper will be under pressure. so i would be concerned with knowing it was going to stay in place once its on. Fierce Critter
Oh, that is SUCH a good point! Thanks! Considering the little make-up bag I keep misc. stuff in on my bedside table has a zipper that works, oh, 75% of the time... I'm thinking corset + zipper = bad. saechalyn
Yeah I would have the same reservations about zippers. I have to say also that it takes a whole lot longer to put one on than take it off; once you undo the laces it's pretty fast to loosen. Happy corset shopping! I just got one from alter ego erotics on ebay and it's very high quality and quite comfy. They have a lot of styles and every size you can imagine. Crazed Vampyress
no problem. it still might be worth looking into. maybe someone was smart enough to come up with a zipper that like, has a snap or something to keep it in place. but i doubt it. i agree the zipper would be great for that 'quick exit' but you just gotta watch out for that *unexpected* quick exit... like say in the middle of walking thru a crowded club.... Fierce Critter
Alter Ego makes the zippered one I was looking at. They have gorgeous designs. A potential Christmas gift for myself.
Lilith
IT would be worth seeing what direction the zipper is going, Mos zippers go Up they might have puthte zippers up side down, so you zip it up by going down, this would eliminate the worry of the zipper falling down on its own. Also email the compnay and ask for specs to the zipper, they shoudl be able to tell you teh brand or % of duty or what ever they call it. I have Boots that Bind my feet Pretty tight if i want them to and i know at the end of the night i am so thankful for my quick release zipper. Homicidalheathen
I had a dress that was tight....firm fabric.......zipped. The only problem with it is that is wearing it so tight you put a strain on the seam around the zipper. Mine broke.

Moonlight_Phantasy
Hmmm....well I can honestly say that I am quite fond of zippers. But I can barely find a corset that fits me so Id be happy just finding one that I like that fits. But as to yur dilemna, try to find one that you like without the zipper that is close in looks with the zipper, then compare and contrast. Yes, a zipper is easy out, but there are always risks in it getting caught in yur skin, or in the shirt underneath, or in getting stuck and you cant get out, etcetera etcetera....... Fierce Critter
Actually, now that I've read a few responses and done some thinking, I think a zipper on a corset is a very, very bad idea. Plastic zippers can have a tendency to lose strength in the meshing of the teeth. The aforementioned make-up bag, for instance. No matter how carefully I try to zip it, it's been opened and closed so much the teeth just don't hold at one point in the middle of it. And metal teeth can pull out so easily. I would think the strain of a corset would just be too much for about any zipper. Then there's the good point made about the zipper itself pulling away from the stitches holding it to the garment. Been through that with everything from pants to jackets. No, I'll be getting one sans zipper eventually.
Nienna
I had an alter ego zippered corset one.. It basically died horribly halfway through it's first wearing.. and they refused to refund me. (They did send me another design though) Don't do it!!! Moonlight_Phantasy
Well, anyhoo, there are some good corsets to look through on those sites I gave you. I dont think any of those have zippers on them.
