I have a brother who died of SIDS and I know what my parents have gone through. Including the nightmares that my mom had for years after my Grandmother told her that "Stevie" was going to spend eternity in pergatory since she had chosen not to have him baptised.

I know that sometimes people think that anything goes, but anyone who has had any type of experience with this probably will not find it funny.

I remember sleeping with my babies to make sure they were still breathing through the night.

So although this is funny.......it kinda rings true.......I think everyone should have newborns under watch all night somewhat but I am paranoid.

i think it was a staement about what cold happen, i mean really people have associated bad parenting with SIDS all along think of the parents who were proscuted for murder when we had no idea the syndrome even exsisted......Now it is a multiude of reason why it happens oh you smoke, you layed the baby on the wrong side when you put him to sleep etc.......When in reality there are no answers... but just a bunch of maybes and this was a statment on how stupid those claims are.

I think in a sense it wa supposed to be funny but in another sense it was written to make people think, about how those who accuse the parents sound silly etc.........

kinda liek the lady who sued mc donalds casue her freaking coffe was to Hot..... just silly and you cant possiably put blame on a person for this.

Oddly as well it would not surprise me to see a real article by some nut job who did a real study that would come up with the same inforamtion.........not as a joke and freak a bunch of parents out.........

I am glad to see the article come from onion then some self proclaimed HAck making people hate them selves for things they have no control over.

Alos sleeping in bed with your baby does not save them, it may actually casue more harm, as our bed blanket pillows are just to squishy for baby who has little control over them selves if they do get in a spot where there face is covered. A crib/bed with a frim matress, light blanket, or warm jammies with no blanket and no pillow or stuffed animals are the best for babies safe sleep environment. I have heard this same routine for the past 11 years or more from my Dr. Classes in child devleopment at School and at the Local MSU extension office, and many classes taken in prep for a home day care...... those have been the same guidline that have held true through out all my classes.... other things like which postion to lay baby have differed from one souce to another.

If you feel safer wit hte baby sleeping in the same room or near you so you cna here babies breath then the best solution would be to get his own bed and place that next to your own bed. Never Sleep in your adult bed with baby or let baby sleep in your adlut bed it would be safer to have baby sleep on the floor.

I had twins on breathing and heart monitors for two weeks and after I got them home yes.....I slept (dozed) with them and I think it helped.

You have to know yourself.

I don't sleep soundly at all.

I wake up everytime I roll over.....

Many times I had to tap their feet to wake them from sleeping so deep it seemed they had stopped breathing.

We took turns at night watching them.

I mean no offense......just my experience.
