Yeah but that's not always the case. :cool

I have cancer right now and not 1 cigarette was the cause. I had it at 18 as well and again it had nothing to do with smoking.

Yeah I suppose you should never do harm to your body if possable.

Life is way too short to be so damn careful though. Point being...why would you not do the things you enjoy? that's where I'm at. If you like to eat, which we all do I bet, a bit too much then enjoy it. Sleep too long. Dance whenever you feel the beat. Bitch to a pal to get things off your mind. Pet someone's dog cuz it made you feel warm and fuzzy. Drink alcohol.

We all have indulgences I guess. My thing is, if they really make you happy then enjoy them. Don't go overboard with the shit but at least get a tickle out of it if it's there for you. Got a craving.....go get that ice cream BUT only eat 1 scoop. All things in moderation... I little bit of something GREAt makes you feel exceptionally good but then you over-do-it and it's a mess. Hell I used to eat a Godiva chocolate fresh dipped fruit, when I could eat chocolate, and it took me over 5 mintues for that 1 piece of candy! I got into it and felt good about it cuz I wasn't going nuts and chowing a box of something cruddy. I got 1 of what I really liked and took it in like it was my last piece.

Ok my point might have gotten lost but I guess you can compare it to sex.

If you WANT a quickie type at that moment then it's great but if you want to make love then it just wasn't worth it so why even bother. Does that make sense? :wink

I always have to talk about sex ...it's my character you see :woot:

That's exactly why it's hard. You don't want to give it up. If you wanted to actually do it then you would. I wanted to quit so i did. That's why it was easy.

My thing is people get cancer and do everything possible to try and cure it. Yet people willingly start smoking and don't even want to quit when they willingly give themselves cancer.

Even when I wanted to quit, it was incredibly hard to do. For some of us, it doesn't matter whether you want to quit or not. It's just difficult.

If people enjoy smoking why do I constently hear them talking about how they should quit??? If you enjoy it why stop it?????

You're not going to convince me smoking is ok, just like I'm not going to convince you to quit.

My point being is if you're going to do it, don't talk about quitting or how much it's costing you if you have the choice of giving it up.

That philosophy can apply to many different things!

if a person who is over weight talks about how they want to loose weight, then if they don’t do anything about it, they should just shut up??

For the same reason an over weight person talks about how they should loose weight but never actually do anything about, is the same reason why smokers talk about it and never do it.

We (over weight n smokers) talk about it because we know it is bad for us; we have a desire to be healthy and fit into society’s healthy profile. We talk about it cause the fact remains IT IS HARDER FOR SOME. I lost weight by walking every day for three months, where as others can do that plus so much more and never loose an ounce so they loose hope faith will what ever ya want to call it. You stopped smoking and it was "easy" for you, well it is not going to be easy for every one.

The biggest Support for any one who is having a difficult time doing anything hard is to talk about it, perhaps we may not work on the issues right away but I bet someplace in all those conversations a few things have stuck that will make it easier when the time comes for that person.

We talk for information, for support, to express ourselves and even if we do not follow through there is never anything wrong with talking about it.

We all have a choice in everything we do, from eating to smoking to Jobs.

What I get from you statement is that it is wrong to talk about a problem if you have a choice, just go with the better choice and stop complaining.
