Go to Borders online and plug in Scott Cunningham and look for Guide For The Solitary Practioner under his listing. Good read and easy to understand. Llewellyn Publishing is a good source for the type of books you're looking for.

It's a little way away from you, NC, but Crazy Wisdom, in A2, is an excellent bookstore with many helpful staff persons. There's even a small tea room upstairs and they sometimes have live folk singers or speakers. Check the schedule on their website.

I've found that chatting with other people on the topic has been best too, but at the same time you have to be careful with who you talk to. I was lucky in that I was born into Wicca and raised with it.

The Isle of Avalon in Royal Oak had some good stuff...I'm not sure if it is still there, as I try to avoid downtown these days since it has been overrun by yuppies and now the construction. It was on Washington street.

Sometimes if you go to Gibraltar Trade Centre you can find some good things, but you really have to take your time and go through all the crap. My mom has found a few good things there.

There is a yahoo group called semichiganpagans that meet monthly at the Isle of Avalon for coffee, chatting and such. New people are always welcome. They had a meeting tonight. They meet every third tues of the month there. Check them out, it may be helpful.

Yes, it's still there but it moved about 2 years (I think?) ago to another spot in Royal Oak. I don't have the current address or information for the place but I've been to the store since they moved. When I went, though, they were still sort of in the process of moving and so they didn't have all the stuff available that they normally would have.
