Homicidalheathen
I used to be one of those zero population growth people until I pondered my own immortality. Then I got pregnant and you know what? If there is a god, she sure has a wicked sense of humor. First, sex hurts....it takes years for it too feel good.....dodging diseases.... Then.....childbirth! WTF? I still though cannot believe all of this is accident or chance.

Jarodaka
(Generally, this is easier than adopting the positive hypothesis, i. e. that god does exist, and waiting for someone to come along with a refutation, because in refuting a positive hypothesis, you must prove that for all infinite instances of that positive, it does not or cannot exist. When refuting a negative hypothesis, you only need to prove one positive to refute it entirely.) Jarod, you may bring your ire to bear. I stand ready. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, but I'm going to have to ahead and agree with you on this point. It's what courts call the 'burden of proof'. It's on the prosecutor to prove the defendant did something rather than up to the defendant to prove he did NOT do something. Of course, it's often helpful for the defendant to provide evidence he was not at the murder scene. All the arguments for god have been repudiated. Believing in a god or gods' existence requires faith -- belief without proof -- and that's kinda the whole point of religion.
Scary Guy
Just a couple quotes I like and thought I'd share, becuase as everyone knows, I love quotes. "There is something Pagan in me that I cannot shake off. In short, I deny nothing, but doubt everything." - Lord Byron "I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure. That is all that agnosticism means." - Clarence Darrow From a speech on July 13th 1925 in Dayton, Tennessee, defending John T. Scopes on trial for teaching Darwinism "Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." - Karl Marx “My position concerning God is that of an agnostic. I am convinced that a vivid consciousness of the primary importance of moral principles for the betterment and ennoblement of life does not need the idea of a law-giver, especially a law-giver who works on the basis of reward and punishment.” - Albert Einstein "It is an insult to God to believe in God. For on the one hand it is to suppose that he has perpetrated acts of incalculable cruelty. On the other hand, it is to suppose that he has perversely given his human creatures an instrument, their intellect, which must inevitably lead them, if they are dispassionate and honest, to deny his existence. It is tempting to conclude that he exists, It is the atheists and agnostics that he loves best, among those with any pretensions to education. For they are the ones who have taken him most seriously." Galen Strawson
JaneDead
I beleive in a dimension that we neither see nor hear - and yet from time it intertwines with our own. I do not know why or how - I just beieve I've experienced it many times, as have millions of others. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes, i believe in this as well and started to experience it when i was a child. Steven
Worship maybe not but....I like to have anyone of power on my side.....just in case..... :fear :devil <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In all honesty, we should then define what Worship really is. Many see it simply as religiosity in many forms. However one literal (Jewish) translation for worship is "to yeild to that which has control over you" I like this definition the best - because to me it applies to everyone - as literally everyone yeilds to somethign, is controlled by something, and therefore worships.
