Who is going to get the Xbox 360?

Recommended Posts

I thought I was, but I was screwed over by US postal office and my stock broker.

So it is regular Xbox for me until I either get it as a Christmas gift or have enough extra cash (in 2 months probably) as it costs $399 with the hard drive.

Anyone gonna buy it?

I also heard that with the pre-sales that it will sold out all over metro Detroit on the first day it is in stores.

23 eerie parallels between Xbox 360 and Sega Dreamcast

Developers, media and analysts give their opinion

(I'm not getting a 360 unless there's something supershiny attractive about it that really makes me want to buy it. I have a PS2 that I don't use all that often and I'm quite happy with it. I mostly wanted to add something constructive to the thread.)

The Xbox360 looks like a sweet piece of integrated entertainment hardware -- Live, iPod compatible, wireless, HD, streaming TV from your PC. You can even plug in a PSP and play music off of while playing a game! Oh, and some of the games look neat, too. I'll get one next spring at the earliest.

I really want to like Sony, but I keep finding reasons to loathe them. When you can make MS look 'not so evil', that's quite a feat. So, yeah, me and five other dorks will not be getting a PS3 based on politics. Instead, we'll be getting 360's like good little corporate whores. Viva la revolucion! BTW, not having a PS2 makes it hard to play my PS2 games...

Yep, I am waiting for my phone call to pick my Xbox 360 up. Nearly every magazine says the new Xbox is gonna blow the Playstaion 3 out of the water and lets face it, the new Nintendo system is just going to be a joke (although I do tend to enjoy MarioKart and some Zelda games among others). Acording to news reports and a few other of my sources, If you have not pre-ordered the new Xbox, you most likely will not find one without the luck of the draw until Feb or March of next year (if even that) as the Xbox 360 is the most wanted item for this holiday season.

I do have a XBOX LIVE ID NAME if anyone here is interested. I can be found under XinfernoX It will work with both the old and new Xbox. Just leave me a message on there saying who you are and I be happy to accept and add you back.

why is the nintendo system gonna be a joke? I was thinking of holding out til that came out, I liked the gamecube quite a bit. Yes the Xbox360 is better in terms of specs but everything I read indicates the Nintendo Revolution will be cool....it will play DVD's, the controller is.....interesting, you can download every NES game ever made and store it to the hard drive. The only problem is that my 3 favorite games are xbox or ps2exclusives (Halo - xbox, Winning Eleven 8 - xbox/ps2, NBA 2k6 - xbox/xbox 360/ ps2)

I just was not very pleased with the Gamecube is all. I own the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube. Gamecube does have it's good sides to it. I also own a DS and some games can link up to the Gamecube which is a nice feature. My main problem with Nintendo as of late is that they just don't have any developers making games to my liking that I can't find on PS2 or Xbox and Nintendo tends to make it's sales pitch to the younger video game fans and most of it's games tend to be a little kidish, but like I said earlier even I enjoy a good game of MarioKart every now and then. It is true that the new Nintendo Revolution will can play every NES game ever made and I may just buy one for this very reason as I am sure many others will do the same. It will be a blast from the past indeed and I do look forward to that, I just hope Nintendo makes some games to a wider fan base with it's new system.

A friend of mine has a tampered mod Xbox have you heard of that? I am really amazed on what he has on his modified system and I was in total shock. He payed some dude $40 and a wekk later he had every game from the NES, Sega Genesis, Super NES, Game Gear, GameBoy, Turbo Graphic 16, and some Neo-Geo games all stored into his Xbox harddrive. It is really amazing on how that was done and I was blown away when I saw it with my own eyes. The only problem he has is that his Xbox won't work with online games and some other recent releases, but still this is pretty amazing.

My kids buy the gaming stuff around here and are hooked on PS2 but I want xbox I hear the games are better?

As far as fantasy and fighting demon type things.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I wouldn't bother with an Xbox 1. Thanks to screwy backwards compatibility (not even half my games are) and the high production costs, I'd be surprised to see much support for the system after the holidays. As soon as 360 production gets ramped up, expect to see the Xbox get pushed aside pretty quickly.

In terms of which games are 'better', well, that's a matter of opinion. There are some very fun games available for both.

sadly the link comparing the xbox360 and dreamcast didnt work for me but i cant understand why people would compare them is it because the 360 is coming out a year before the other consoles? if thats the case then the ps2 wouldnt be where it is today i think the 360 will do good the people seem to like what they see of it even if at this time its only slightly better graphics then what the xbox already offers and a launch list of games that really only boils down to a few ports of sports games and the stuff that rare was makeing for the first xbox when microsoft bought them years ago

another thing that sega made a mistake with the dreamcast was that they couldnt market it worth a shit their main ad campiagn was that 9.9.99 crap and thats only a release date which came a went as fast as any other day which is a shame because the dreamcast is a great system

microsoft on the other hand is doing a great job of marketing the 360 they learned from the mistakes that were made with the xbox and are not just focusing on a western market but looking at things more internationally which will help them out a lot

yet all of that being said i will still not pick up a 360 any time soon simply for 2 reasons one being that i didnt like the xbox so what if the graphics and sound were better then the other systems that still doesnt make for better gameplay or better story lines

and two being just because a new line of consoles is about to launch doesnt mean that the current era is over there will still be great games coming out for them over the next 2 years maybe even more

thats all i have to say

I will get a ps3.....almost any game you got for the xbox can be played on PC, and I would like to get more rps

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Both the PS2 and the Xbox have the same amount of games that are also out for the PC and I am sure that the next generation systems will be no different. I for one not like to play games over computer for a number of reasons so I will most likely get a Xbox 360.

Every review that I read states the Xbox is was ahead of the game from it's rival companies even though it is being released 6 months before the other systems.

this is true i dont know why people started thinking that all of the game's on the xbox are also are the pc more then any other console most of those games have come on the pc and the xbox and pc were pc game's that were later ported to the xbox (only one i can think of that was on the xbox first was halo and halo 2 won't being coming to the pc)

but...........the xbox came out a year after the ps2 and a week before the gamecube not 6 months before both

I don't know but I checked out vid clips of Gears of War for 360 and it looks hostile! So much detail and variations of gameplay as well as watching the guys open their mouths as they fire the gun like they were yelling. Heh, I would get one regardless. Hell, why not have both you cheapos :whistling

Jarod is on the money here. I'll probably still buy a PS3 since I'm a Final Fantasy fanboy, but I'll be cursing all the while, unless Sony does a dramatic turnaround in how they've been treating their customers (i.e. us).

(and Genesis had MUCH better games than SuperNintendo)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oh, ouch. I've got eight words that prove that wrong: FINAL FANTASY IV, FINAL FANTASY VI, and CHRONO TRIGGER.

Ok I am gonna disagree on this one.....when the xbox has a game for the ps2, you can always count on it being realeased (maybee not same day as game though) for the PC. Almost any game that is released on PS2 is almost never at the pc, and yes I know lately that there are alot of exceptions, but I am saying this as a whole.

The only thing that the 360 and PS3 have in common hardware wise is a processor. Video card different manufacturers........360 is wireless.....PS3 is BLUETOOTH, and thats a hell of alot better..........also the 360 is a basic dvd rom, but the ps3 is using a new technology called Blue Ray, which is a dvd almost to the 12th power....an normal dvd holds 4.5 gigs....blue ray 54 GIGS! If anyone wants I can get them the actual specs....afterall, I am a nerd for god sakes lol.

In my honest opinion the gaming world is not about who comes out first, but second. That way they can take thier basic design and beef it up to beat out the competition. Xbox came out I think 4 months after the ps2, and like Froyn said, it has better load times/hardware. Well now I think it's Sony's time to step up and be the number 1 contender....in all honest though when it really comes down to it, it's all about prefrence.....I like role playing games and ps2/3 will beat out xbox most likely so I am gonna wait.

Well the PS3 system is already set in stone, they can't add things onto it after they see the Xbox 360's technology simply because it would take at least another 2 years for the PS3 to be redesigned and manufactured and shipped out. The orginal Xbox came out over a year (I believe) after the PS2 and Microsoft never changed their orginal plans of thier system after the PS2 came out because it would cost millions to change the orginal design and then manufacture and then ship out the new product.

Really it all come down to money pretty much.

Also I saw a promotional video played during the PlayStation 3 launch event, the words “Spring 2006” were displayed on the screen Implying the console will be released sometime during this period. When exactly, and to which countries, is currently unknown. The rumors, however, point to a worldwide launch in March 2006. So Sony has no way of redesigning it's system because it simply does not have enough time.

I do agree with one point you made. Both Xbox systems are not the systems you want if you are a diehard fan of RPG's. I myself and not a RPG fan at all, I just find it a little boring and could never get into it, but I do have many many friends who are into it and enjoy it very much and they do think that Playstation is the way to go if you are a lover of the RPG craze becasue we have discused such things in the past. I am not sure so don't quote me, but the only RPG's for Xbox that really come to mind is Fable and there is are 2 Star Wars games titled Nights Of The Old Republic (but this title can also be found on PS). again don't quote me cuz there may be more, I just wouldn't know, because I not look for them.
