I've never been to CC but it sounds....interesting.

It seems to be an important social place. Maybe someone should start a campaign(sp?) to fix if up????? Who knows....might work.......

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It'd be easier and cheaper to have the entire building torn down and a newer, better one built on the spot.

None of the above.

What I hate most is the judgment those of us who LIKE going there get from those who don't.

Couldn't care less if people dislike any of the above - I agree with 8 out of 10 and could add a few more negatives to the list. It's why you never see me call ScaryGuy out on his criticisms of the place - he's usually right. But he rarely questions the judgment of those of us who do like the place.

I have different "standards" for different things. I like hole-in-the-wall venues for one thing, glossy/glitzy palaces for another. CC just falls under my "hole" category. My expectations of it are low, so I'm rarely disappointed.

Insert "hole" joke here... :wink

I chose "Other" and my reason?

Because I practically hate all of those choices equally.

Stupid People: I hate the Drunks that think it's funny as hell to spill their drink on you.

Stupid Tourists: We're not a Museum exhibit. Go to the DIA for that, thanks.

Drink Prices Are Too High: Come on!!! I can buy a bottle of Twister juice for 2.50 TOPS at school. You charge the non-drinkers almost 5 freakin' bucks?!

Parking Suck: MMmmm, yep. The safest place is the lot. And what the hell are you going to do if said lot is full? Park on the street? I THINK NOT!!

Music Sucks: STOP OVERPLAYING "Annie Would I Lie To You"...... sorry but Iris doesnt strike me as club music unless you're popping E or any hallucinogen. oO Oh wait, isnt that a lot of people at CC? Add that do "The People Suck" part.

Speakers are Blown: They are? Oh yeah. But it's too loud to tell, everything just sounds smashy/crashy.

Building needs to be either renevated or condemned: Renuvated. Too bad Higgins is such a freakin' cheap-ass he ignores any and all complaints, just to save a good sum of cash that he'll end up losing anyway when people find other hotels to stay at.

No heat/air conditioning in the winter/summer" Too busy dancing to notice the lack of heat..... but on the same token, it gets farkin' toasty in there when there isnt any ventilation to somehow disspate the enormous cloud of smoke that keeps building up and up. ><!!

Bathrooms: Anybody ever hear of the Broken Windows Theory? We were talking about it in Criminal Justice. Boiling that down to this....... nody bothers to supply us with decent soap dispensers or toilet paper dispensers? And the towels touch the counters? EW!! People are gonna be more wary going to the bathroom than being wary about going home with somebody. oO

DRAMA: Blind Eyes, Deaf Ears, Mute Mouth. I say no more.

That it is the cornerstone of our scene: Yep. it is. Why cant people pay more attention to the Labyrinth or Mephisto's? It's in the same general area as City Club (( Hell, Lab is easier to get to, not so any stairs to climb )). What are they worried about? Club size? PSSH, it gets crowded at CC too. Even more so than Meph's or Lab.

It's a meat market: Yep. And that leads to the Drama, doesnt it? Sorry but I'm not a piece of ass to take home and screw, thank you very much. From what I've heard, there's little decency. (( NOT pointing fingers to ANYBODY on this board )) But yes, CC..... take a look around, pick the hottest Goth chick.... hit on her, grind with her, buy her plenty of drinks...... she's yours. =_=;;

Other: I also wnat to add the Cover policy. Sure, I dont mind the fact that the price goes up...... but re-admission? Come on, people already pay an arm and a leg for drinks. Why the hell would they want to pay a re-admission fee?

All of the above.

Perhaps the lack of heat is number one, because it was freezing there last friday and I've been really sick all week.

I guess this would go under "stupid people" or "meat market" but it seems the sleaziest people in Michigan go to City Club and people touch and grope other people without consent on a regular basis. I also thought it was supposed to be a dance club, yet I see orgy upon orgy there, why not go to a swinger party or S+m club to do that stuff?

The lack of morals in that place is often a real turn off for me.

:devil The parking really does suck since the structure has been closed.

Also there are no more draft pitcher deals before 11:00 anymore and the drink prices are constantly going up.

Besides dealing with a few assholes which I do not consider human beings here and there, but that is mostly my complaint.

I disagree with this though, I like Iris quite a bit. =)

Since I grown up in a ghetto, therefor the place doesnt bother me because im very use to hanging out somewhere where its very run-down walls torn, no ceiling, installation hanging out along with pipes, alot of graffiti (specailly on bathroom walls), very dark, barely no lights yet meeting alot of kewl goths (or just kewl people) there n there. So which come to terms I LOVE IT!!!!

But I do have to agree on the ridiculous prices for drinks, parking, drama and the whole meat market thing. I had alot of normie chix hit on me there before thinking im just some other drunken pig-mind dude that would tittie-fuck anyone in general. That shit gets annoying.

I don't hate any of those things enough to condemn it, however, all the little bads do add up.  So, what do I hate the most about it? I hate the most that it is the cornerstone of our scene.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

This is pretty much my thinking as well. The only thing I can say for CC, is that I never saw a live, rabid raccoon in the bathroom (as I did once at Lab). It's sometimes annoying to go to goth clubs elsewhere and see the difference, and what we COULD have here. Put another chalk-mark beside the "hating it because it's the cornerstone of our scene."

who voted for "the music sucks" ? I stated above that I like Iris (I signed in with wrong screen name - oops!) and you know what to expect at CC. They play similar music at Necto, Mephistos and most "goth" clubs around the country. I think that is the least legitemate complaint about CC.

I don't know...I kind of miss the mix of music styles that was there is the early 90's...some punk, goth, rock, industrial, early-electro etc. There was a broader range of patrons as well~

I still like the current CC now and then, but it does need some work/ventilation.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

yeah i miss how it used to be. the mix of people and music and styles. now it seems everyone looks and acts the same. and i feel like i am a "tourist" there like i hear many of you say all the time. even though i was a regular there before a lot of the regulars now could even get in. or even drive for that matter.

Farril, by Labyrinth, you mean Luna right?

Luna is the club accross from National Coney Island and kitty corner to a graveyard at 12 and Main. Labyrinth is the other slum of a club in the same building as City Club.

Also I wouldn't mind hearing Forgiving Iris and yes I occasionally play it, but I now try to avoid the Y2k99 mix or whatever it is that they overplay(ed). They kinda stopped I guess for a while and then started it back up because they used to play it when I STARTED going there.

Also I agree with Holliwood there on the music (of course). I don't like it not because I don't like the DJ's, on the contrary, I'm friends with a few of them. I know what they could be playing too that they don't anymore.

I still find it amusing that Chris Rohn got fired for playing too much "techno". I mean of all the bullshit excuses they could have used. Thats mostly what they play now since EBM is techno.

I don't hear them play sisters of mercy ever except really early in the night or late in the evening, I don't hear London After Midnight, I don't hear anything (party because I don't go but I don't see it on any playlists either).
