Okay i have it narrowed down to 2 drum sets, I know its been a long process.

Pacific Drums by DW EZ 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals This one i will have to buy the Throne seperate and the sticks so the price for all will be around $369

or

Ludwig Accent 5-Piece Combo Drum Set This one currently come with free symbols and everything we need and is $369

okay being price for everythng i need is about the same I am looking for opions on which would be a better quality. This will be ordered on 12-2-2005 Friday~

I have heard good things about the DW and I have heard Good things about Ludwig, the problem is i know the bottom of the line Ludwig is not neccisarly better then the top of the line DW and i have no idea if either fits in to place here........ I guess i have two options for my budget and i am afraid i will choose the crapeir one. HELP ME.......... :nut ..........

At first I was going to say get the DW because the Ludwig doesn't come with cymbals, but then I noticed that yes they do as a free gift if you order now.

One difference is the cymbals that come with the DW has a 18" crash-ride and the Ludwig comes with a 16" crash. As much as I hate crash-rides, I'd say go for that anyway because at least there's still versatility no matter how crappy it's going to sound.

Ludwig has always made great drums, but I personally prefer DW. Of course, both are low lines so it's a toss up as to what is better. Reading the user comments it sounds like DW might edge out the Ludwig.

You can probably just flip a coin and get a something comprable no matter what it ends up on, but mine came up heads so DW it is. If you want any help setting it up, "tuning" it, etc. just let me know. I don't live too far away.

the free offer on the Ludwig of the cymbals has been on there for about 2 weeks now....... so hopefully they will keep it up until at least friday. Ughh if i only had the extra $69 right now........ It has been hell on my pocket saving this $ so many burn holes.......

I might take ya up on the tunning part.... not sure if i will be able to tune it yet or not, been forever since i tuned anything and when i did tune it was a Flute... :erm Really not comparable......... man i should have dated that drum major with the jiggley jello butt i followed around the track in pratice.......

ahhh it is ordered....... I got the Ludwig, and the extra Free pieces and an extra pair of sticks that i had to pay for but they looked cool... should be here with in 2 weeks.

I was talking with my mother in law since she has pitched in on this, and she seemed happier with me ordering the Ludwig then the Dw.... she knows the brand name kinda thing. So over all i think every one will be happy, i think/hope i choose a decent set for our budget, my mother in law is getting a Brand Name, and Cody will be getting a set of drums that will be able to last and allow him to excell as a musician untill he can afford to upgrade on his own or what not.

Thank You all for you comments and Help. It is more then appreciated.

i have to add that My youngest son had his birthday on NOV 30 and he recieved this kick as GI Joe gun..... My oldest Son (the one getting the drums) said " If i even get anything for my birthday, i would really like to have one of those" ....... Now the only reason why i bring this up is normally kids will say if i only get this for XXXXX i will be happy with nothing more... and what i noticed my son did was Acknowledge he made an agreement that all he wanted was this drum set and would be happy with only ti for christmas and took his new found want and requested it in a way that did not upset one single adult or make us feel liek we made a mistake. It made me feel liek we did the proper thing and he is growing in such a wonderful person. So my mother in law went out n got him the gun for christmas....... I am glad she recognized all that i did and was able to sort of reward him for it, even though he does not know yet.

YEs it is a cool gift, one that i feel very fortunate for being able to swing even if I did not provied the whole amount, and have been stuck in a house with no social life for two months...... makes my lack of fun the stress even more worth it. When i know my son will be very grateful for it.

Might I just say your a cool mom for this.  I know lots of peeps who would not be supportive of their youngsters playing musical instuments like drums just because they are loud and it might upset their precious tv watching.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

WHAT????? Other people with kids have time to watch tv?

Actually i understand what you are saying, I never could understand that..... and thank you for noticing that about me i apprecaite it allot casue i thought i was pretty cool for it too. Dont get me wrong i would not buy a 3 yr old a drum set, Gads what that noise could sound like, but if the kids is going to try to play a song, make up songs that sound cool, etc.... I am all up for hearing the "racket" ........ LOL now that i think about it i remebr spending a few days here n there with thme sitting in the kitchen with pots and pans making up beats n stuff...... so maybe yeah if a 3 year old had intent or talent or what ever to make up stuff that was more then just noise he would get it too........
