Maybe it's the "we" stuff.  I know for a fact that 2 of the top 3 people running this place don't agree with certain things other moderators have done here.

Before people get freaked out: yes, the moderators disagree. OH NO! Even when I do, I trust that they are acting/speaking in what they think is best for keeping the board jerk-free.

The disagreement is a function of the moderators. Troy asked people to be moderators, in part, because we do disagree. Even then, disagreement is a part of managing people, let alone a message board. It's a little harder with the benevolent dictator on hiatus, but we try to reach concensus as much as possible.

There was a time when a few members made this place an outlet for their sex needs......it did turn off more than a few people. IMO this is more a discussion style message board and I feel there are enough web sites that cater to finding sex partners. I really disliked seeing this place becoming that and I'm not alone IMO. I say if you're that desperate go join one of those sites thank you.

Some mods are good, some are bad, some use personal vandettas to moderate. Some have no sense of humor, some have good sense of humors. But really, who cares? No one gets paid to mod or read DGN, no one's life is gonna fall apart without this website.

I know for a fact that this is correct, many of the threads in the sex forums did turn off people and kept some people away from DGN. Whether or not this is good or bad for DGN is up to others to decide.

But this one - the thing that keeps coming to mind is, if a subject bothers you, and it's a pretty damned easy thing to know WHERE that type of subject is going to be posted, don't go there!

I mean, come on. If people discussing their sexuality or proclivities in relation to bothers a person, it's a pretty safe assumption that that kind of talk is going to go on in the SEX & SEXUALITY forum - so don't go there!

And I'm NOT talking about things like, oh, you're reading a thread in the Relationships forum about the latest window cleaner and suddenly someone starts spouting off about fat, Polish blondes. That would have been out of left field and unexpected, and therefore bothersome.

But it's a safe bet that someone is going to post about wanting a 3some in the sexuality forum. Welcome or not, that's where it's going to be.

So don't go there!!!

i agree with this 100 percent.

which is why i don't read those threads.

i don't care to know what is going on in there. but i would never suggest people should not talk about it. obviously there are more than a couple of people here who enjoy going there and discussing the things they do, which is why they do it. plus they have found other people who have that in common with them. and should always feel comfortable doing so and not be judged or told that it grosses other people out.

there are many things on dgn that are discussed that i don't have an interest in for various reasons and i avoid it. not just the sex, but sometimes relationship stuff in general, politics, religon... there are many things discussed all over the board that are not going to interest EVERYONE or that not eveyone will agree should even be here.

for the most part as long as a title is labeled accordingly, and with a warning that it might not be suitable for kids/work then i find nothing wrong with any of the content that is ever posted on dgn.

UNLESS it is hateful and directed towards dgners personally, or an entire group of people based on skin color, sexual preference, body type, social status etc. those are the things i don't agree with and think should not be here. things that are purposely bashing people based on a closed minded opinion.

from what i have seen of the mods on the board and in discussions in the staff chat- i have NEVER gotten this impression.

all i have ever seen is the mods trying to do

1. what they feel is right, based on personal opinion combined with what troy wants the board to be

2. trying to come to a fair compromise. it might not always seem fair, but i have yet to see a mod do anything for their own personal gain.

oh i have noticed the cliques develope over the almost one year i  have been here. And basiclly that is what i am referring to when i stated the clique part in my first post. I have no problem with IRL close friendships, but when those friendships come to the board and (kowningly or unkowningly) ignore fellow memebrs and newbies, it does not create a welcoming atmosphere that would draw a newbie or even a less social memebr out to meet people. If i was on the net and i felt unwelcomed why would i bother to venture out to a IRL social event to meet these people who dont even want to bother with me online?

Of the few years of being on this board I never been part of any small ridiculous cliques or whutzoever nor bowed down and kiss any fuckin butts for anything. I just enjoy being myself and thats that. Fars to my knowledge this board has always been a layed-back friendly goth community minus the drama. Which I have no problem with, I hate drama and rather deal with boredom (unless if its somewhere else, dont know the people and the reason has to be totally stupid yet hilarious)

However I do have to admit the clique thing does get old though, we need more leaders than followers (which im not gonna list any names).
