Got a car stereo to spare?

Recommended Posts

As mentioned in the CC aftermath thread, a thief jacked our car stereo on Saturday night. We had a Kenwood CD/MP3/Sirius-ready unit, KDC-MP522 (there's one on eBay right now, and no, not being sold from Detroit :wink). It had a remote control. This was a gift we gave ourselves a couple years ago, I forget the occasion.

I am hoping to find any kind of car stereo. It will suck not being able to play MP3's & CD's, but beggars can't be choosers. We still have a Sirius receiver we picked up for a minivan we sold earlier this year, and that can broadcast over any FM frequency, so the Sirius end is covered (if we want to reactivate our account, that is).

The vehicle is a 99 Chevy S-10. The wiring harness is still there, so hoping to find something compatible.

I'm checking with my roomie. We may have a spare AM/FM/CD car stereo available. Doesn't play MP3's but it is a CD player. Should know more later tonight or tomorrow.

Turns out my roomie has a JVC AM/FM/CD car stereo available. It has a removeable faceplate if you are interested.

I've got a car stereo to spare, it's an Audiowave (yeah pretty no name). Me and my friend tested it with a 12 volt adapter and some computer speakers, powered up and worked so I was happy. Got it off of E-Bay for around 90 (bah, import shipping, or so they claimed) and it does MP3/SD/USB media (which I thought was neat and why I bought the damned thing in the first place). Unfortunately there is no remote.

With the new car I think I want to keep the shitty stock one cause it looks better in it, or link up a computer inside of it and link it to that (stock radio sounds like shit, probably going with option B).

I'll let you have it for what I payed for it total if you want.
