- Call local towing yards and attend their auctions. (I picked up a decent car for towing and storage fees when it was impounded - $550 - and it was later sold for about $3000).

- MAG (Michigan Auction Group) who auctions repo's in the area (they can be found on the internet - google search them)

- Trading Times, Newspapers, cars.com ...

I currently don't know of any vehicles for sale under $10,000.

Seems no one is selling their cheap but reliable vehicles these days. I think gas prices are to blame.

Megan:

The following e-mail was in our inbox from a local buy/sell/trade group.

Jon offered her a few hundred bucks and she seemed interested in making a deal. But we don't have a few hundred bucks and we don't need this car, so I thought maybe you should contact her and make her a low offer:

From: ariesaaw@yahoo.com

Hello! i am in Roseville and need to sell my 1995

Chevy Cavalier. It has a rebuilt engine with less than

1,000 miles on the new engine. It runs great but needs

minor work..(the brakes and windshield wipper motor).

It is light blue in color. Make an offer I must sell

it asap! My friend had given it to me but now she has

fallen on some really hard times and I want to sell it

and give her the money!!!Thanks!

From one of the buy/sell/trade groups I'm on. I will warn you ahead of time, however. 2 of my sisters had Celebrities. I believe 87 & 88 models, thereabouts. They were notorious for having an engine life of around 110,000. My sister gave me hers at only 50,000 miles. Right around the 110,000 mark - a rod blew. Trash-a-roonie.

I still see these on the road today, so that's not true across the board, 100%. But at $500, I think you should be able to get another 20,000 miles worth out of it possibly. Don't quote me on that :wink :

1984 celebrity forsale 500 or obo need to sale asap!!!

It depends on the engine size. GM was having a problem with one of their V-6 engines, can't remember the engine size at the moment. I know Ford was having trouble with their 3.8 engines for a while, at 100,000 miles you had to replace the headgasket. A friend of mine has a T-Bird with the 3.8 and at 100,000 miles bammo, he had to replace the headgasket. For a few years that was a comman problem.

I had a 94 buick century and it had around 120k miles on it before it blew a rod, and I took care of the vehical....I didn't dog it, and I've heard from certified gm mechanics that this was common for that vehical. But after I replaced the engine it ran good for awhile.
