The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Recommended Posts

i took my daughter to see this tonight. very nice. i thought they did a good job following the book (we just read it and have nearly finished Prince Caspian now), though there were a few changes and sacrifices to be made, as is to be expected of adaptations. IIRC the run time was a healthy 2 hrs 10 min, which, for a kids movie, is pretty lengthy.

but we persevered and quite enjoyed it, overall.

the casting IMO was top-notch and the CGI, while a tad weak in a few spots, was overall real good. im sure wetas @$$-kicking costuming and props aided this though.

definitely a recommended movie, though, of course, the younger kids might not be able to handle it. if youre familar with the books then you know that there are a few key moments that are both somewhat disturbing and graphically violent (aslan getting sacrificed and a few fights plus one large battle) for kids.

the kid didnt want to watch the sacrifice part, though she knew it was coming, as we'd read the book.

i really hope they continue on with the other 6 now. i always did love the books.
