I have:

Emily LeAnn. I liked it. She would have been Lucas Mathieu had she been a boy.

Ashley Marie. I didn't name her, her dad did. She would have been Cole Allen had she been a boy (her dad's idea).

Austin James. Austin I loved. James is his dad's middle name. He requested it to be used. He would have been Cheyanne Nicole, had he been a girl (my idea ... I really liked it).

and

Elijah Alexander. My idea and I love it. He would have been Lillian Grace, had he been a girl (also my idea).

John for a boy. family tradition, 7 generations and not one man hasnt been a john untill my cousins were born.

this trend follows as far back as i can trace on my dads side of the family (earliest ancestor tracable is a roma horse trainer on the buffalo bill wild west show)

wouldnt mind a traditional welsh name for a second name or for a daughter. this of course is open to negotiation.

Ian Debs. Debs is my ex's 1st name, and we wanted to keep it rolling without getting Ian beat up. I like the way it flows. If he was a girl, he would have been Anastasia Marie. That was my ex's choosing. I'm grateful that Ian is a boy. :whistling

Sierra Margaret. I've always loved the name Sierra. Her middle name was going to be Marie, like mine. However, my grandmother was dying of cancer. I adored her to no end, and her name was Margaret. I wanted to keep her alive, even though I knew she was leaving me. So, her name became Sierra's middle name. If she were a boy, she would have been Evan Michael.

If I could give Wayne a child, I would name it Madison Wayne if it were a girl. I guess it doesn't matter, since I can't give him a baby.

We are not having children. But in my younger days, when thinking about this question, I considered Alexander for a boy, Lucy for a girl. Not Lucille or Lucinda - just Lucy.

As I am without human spawn, I must include my furchildren. In order.

Ripley - named for a city we drove by in Ohio on the way down to NC. I liked how it sounded, and that it reminds me of Ripley from "Alien" - a very strong, female character. Ripley is, indeed, a strong female.

Grover - As a kitten, he would walk around making these growly noises at his brother. "Growler" became "Grover". Also my favorite Muppet.

Lincoln - Grover's brother. Named, indeed, for Abraham Lincoln. I had just been to DC for the first time, and awestruck at the Lincoln Memorial. Always been a fan of the president as well.

Xena - I should have named Ripley Xena, as Ripley is the more fierce of the two. But I just wanted a female cat named after the character.

Asia - the perfect name, IMHO, for a Siamese cat.

Fletcher - my orange tabby. Just 'cause I liked the name.

Marty - This is the one Jon found at work, stuck under palattes, the very day AFTER we got Fletcher. Named after "Marty McFly," Michael J. Fox's character in "Back to the Future" - Jon's favorite movie. I suggested it, Jon approved.

Isabeau - I've always loved that name since seeing LadyHawke.

Gus - Isabeau's brother. Just another name I've always thought would be good for a pet.

Tiki - Jon was making bamboo tiki lights at the time we got her. It fits.

Calder - I wanted a white cat at the time, and would have named him after the Calder Dairy here downriver. Calder got the name by default when we found him. He's black & white, so I just say he's named after chocolate milk.

Mama - so "un-named" because she was only supposed to be a temporary foster with her 4 kittens. Called her that to keep myself from becoming attached. Now, she's here to stay, and it's too late to change it.

Phoebe - Mama's pure white baby girl. She was also "unnamed" "fuzzy butt" to keep some distance. The "EffBee" shortening of that rolled into "Phoebe", which always was a possible choice of mine anyway.

Ray - Phoebe's sister. Mama had 4 kittens, two white, two gray. Ray was the BIG gray one - "Big Gray". Jon insisted on keeping her, and perverted "Big Gray" into "Big Ray". She she is stuck with it.

Oakley - Indy was our first German Shepherd. We got Oakley 4 days after Indy died. His "papered" name would have been "Oakley, James Taylor's Tribute To Indy", but we never registered him. I was looking through a book of dog names, and say "Oak" or something like that, and twisted it into "Oakley".

Tuckle - our bunny. I was reading Redwall books at the time. There was a character named Pikkle. I made it up myself, inspired by that name.

Our dear, departed Jack was so-named because he needed a good, honest, simple name. I loved that kitten, and that name.

Around the age of 14 i noticed all my female and some of my male friends started talking about 'when they had kids' and i decided then i didnt think i wanted any. 12 years later, and i have not changed my mind in the least bit, but i want to feel included too! so im gonna follow up with FC's idea...

1st - Goldfish, named Simmy. Named as a cross between Timmy (male) and Sammie (female) because i didnt know the gender of the fish.

2nd - Dog, named Soxx. After the way the white fur on the end of his foot was like white toes sticking out of black stockings with a hole in the end.

3rd - Dog, named Thunder. My brother named him, i have no idea why.

*** that is the end of any 'family' pets, the rest were all mine after moving out ***

Two kittens named Kibble (grey longhair tabby) and Bits (black shorthair) because i lived with my uncle who kept insisting his german shepard would eat my kittens (they got alone great!)

Kitten named Eve (black shorthair) named because i picked her up on new years eve.

Kitten named Medusa (black and grey shorthair) because i found her outside as a stray with grass and straw sticking up all over from her fut, it reminded me of snakes rising from Medusa's head.

Kitten named Persephone (black longhair) because i was studying mythology and its realation to Tarot at the time i got her, also my roomates cat at the time Hecate, so it seemed fitting.

Kitten named Beastly Quagmire (long hair siamese mix) for no reason other than i just wanted a name that would pop out. At the time i got him most of my friends were having (or had) children and i had thrown/attended many baby showers. So i threw myself a baby shower for the day i was scheduled to pick him up and definately wanted a name that was as amusing as the event surrounding his arrival.

Two white rats named Wembly and Nugget. Wembly was taken from fraggle rock and nugget was short for Rat McNugget.

Betta fish, just called The Fish.

Cat named Cleo (calico) named after the then-popular Miss Cleo on tv commercials for psychic phone advice ("call me now!")

Cat named Dion (calico) named after Dion Warwick because having 2 psychic cats is better than one (mostly keeping with the theme for amusement)!

Betta fish, referred to as Fish II: The Sequel

Two rats, one black one brown/black named Gutter and Templeton. Gutter had unusually coarse hair so she was my lil gutter-rat. Templeton resembles the rat of that name from Charolette's Web.

Kitten named Ricky (longhair black, posted recently under pictures of 'shaved pussy') was a stray that *literally* walked in my front door one day as a kitten and has been my heart ever since. named after a character ricky on My Socalled Life, who was basically tossed out of his home and on the streets.

well there ya have it! *whew*

Ariane Elise. We showed up at the hospital with a list of ten girls names and ten boys names. We figured we'd take a lookie before we gave her a name. After we spent a little time with her we decided that she was an Ariane... even though Elise was our favorite. All the the names on the list were french to go with my family heritage..

Kyra Eileen. We knew she would be a girl Same process as Ariane but only girls names and Irsih to go with her mom's family heritage. Technically Eileen is her grandmothers's name (On mom's side) but that's not why we chose the name. (We let her think that, though.)

Cody-J Paul ~ Named Cody casue i didn ot like any other boy names the -J stands for John a strong family name also give him the option of being called CJ but he hates that, Paul is after my uncle paul who is named after many great uncle pauls.

Rhapsody Lynn ~ My mom allways said if i had a sister her name would be Rhapsody, ( to match my name Harmony), So i used it to honor her in a way, the name Lynn is my middle name

Sebastian Mark Manley, ~ Lestat Picked out Sebastian, he liked the name, we choose Mark for his step dad who was more of a real father then his real dad and Manley is my moms famlys last name and i wanted to honor my grandfather.

We lost a baby, its name would have been Trinity Marie girl (i liked trinity and marie is my mother in laws middle name) or Neo Nathanal boy ( Lestat picked it out casue he liked how it sounded. ) After baby was checked over by Doc's, they said he was a Boy so his name would have been Neo Nathanal.

No children here (and aren't having any :jamin), but I've always been under the impression that the names of kings and queens were good bets. For instance: Henry, George, Elizabeth, Edward, Victoria, etc. It seems like if you name your kid after someone with status, then at least their name won't be a hinderence in later life.

Also, I always liked the name Salvador (as in Dali). You could call the kid Sal for short. I also liked Vincent and Veronica.
