Fierce Critter
What I like about him: I like that he encourages people to think for themselves. What I dislike: despite him saying that, he still turns around and tells people - especially young people - that organized religion is bad. So at the same time he's telling people to think for themselves, he's telling them how to think. I find it pretty hypocritical. What I like about him: when interviewed by Michael Moore in "Bowling for Columbine", Moore asked him what he'd tell kids face-to-face. And his response, rather than an egotistical diatribe on whatever, was something to the effect of "I wouldn't talk - I'd listen to THEM, 'cause nobody ever listens to these kids and that's what they need, for people to listen." I really admired that. What I don't like about him: I get a sense that he only wants to listen to whomever agrees with him. What I like about him: Some of his songs are catchy. What I don't like about him: most of his music. What I like about him: he certainly does have some... sense of style. What I don't like about him: I've seen that style myriad places before, especially on Alice Cooper. What I like about him: his videos are provocative & eyecatching. What I don't like about him: his videos are provocative & disturbing. Overall, I mostly don't like him. I get into major rolling-eyes state when he's played at CC, and I do not, in any way shape or form, consider him goth. Metal, maybe. Goth? Hardly. I mostly disdain the hypocrisy. He tells kids to not let organized religion dictate their life choices to them. But in doing so, he's dictating their life choices to them. I saw him in concert at St. Andrew's Hall in 1994 or so. I found him tedious and boring. He pulled down his pants, tucked his package down between his legs and masturbated himself from underneath. Yawn. I ended up heading for the back of the theater to read the Metro Times, only staying 'cause it was my friend who wanted to see him, and I was her ride home. Hardly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If he's goth or metal...he's pop-goth or pop-metal. I had a friend who toured with him as his personal assistant for a year. John 5, their former guitar player, went to school in Grosse Pointe. My friend got a job with the band through his friend John 5. Needless to say, my friend got to know Manson fairly well. I never heard anything good about him.
Homicidalheathen
I personally think he is all gimic. His songs are waaaaaaay to simple. Did you read his book? He is kinda wierd too. My kids love him however. He is like a modern day Alice Cooper sorta, who I never really cared for either. Zappa produced Alice's first Album and thought it was all gimic. Now Zappa was a great musician who knew music. I also feel Manson does allot of remakes of old covers because he cannot come up with anything good on his own. Sometimes when listening to it I do get into it but he has nothing but 4/4 time signature music and that just gets so tired. ~Yawn~
Scary Guy
Like the music, dislike the man. His lyrical content is simple, yet to the point which I do like. I like a good majority of his songs. I had that people identify him as the main goth culture icon though. I too think he's a lot like Alice Cooper, but not as good as him at all. Manson is Glam Rock technically and so is Allice.

phee
I really dislike the bastard... I have met him, and he was a jerk, I don't like his music, he makes interviews mildley entertaining yes, but there is no originallity in the music, and I just don't get it... I ask people who do like him: You have listened to other music right? you do know what his music/image are ripping off right?
Blackmail
Nerdcore is right, his cover of DM's "personal jesus" was sucky. But then again, I didn't like Johnny Cash's cover of it either.

Aralis
I like him and have been a fan for awhile now. I like his music and his creativity. He found a way to market himself and make money. Nothing wrong with that. I saw him in concert and I thought it was very entertaining...very dramatic stage sets and the music sounded good. I know alot of people are not fond of him. I have never met him in person so I can not say he is an asshole. We have a framed black and white photo of him in our house. We refer to it as cousin Marilyn..LOL!
Shade Everdark
I have never forgiven him for his horrible, thrice-cursed cover of "Sweet Dreams." It was the first thing I heard by him, and I kinda wish it was the last.

Guest Game of Chance
According to my friend... One time Manson got pissed off at John 5 over something stupid. John 5 is jewish. He's also a father. Manson told him that if he didn't shut the fuck up that he'd put his kids in the oven.
