Oh wait, that's another happy thought . . . . . shoot.

Anyway, for yesterday at least, I'm saddened that resignation to the ineptitudes of my job finally set in and I think they are there to stay. It's hard to be optimistic in just about any way, shape, or form anymore.

holy jeez.

well, last night marked the one week anniversary of my car getting broken into - the window smashed, the dash taken apart, the cd player gone, no heat, very lame in this five degree weather. also, i came home from dinner to find that our dog had eaten a whole bag of pistachio nuts, and a big black chisel marker, so there were black prints all over the floor.

nice.

Six months ago I got a new boss. She's been great. She was promoted from within the ranks of editors so she knows the job inside and out and was never afraid to pitch in when we got behind.

She got a better offer from another company Friday and she's leaving.

:(

It's not as glorious as it sounds.  My roommate told me about it and from the sounds of it, not much good is said.  It's headed by my ex, if that says anything.

And he knows about it because he's part of it.  Don't trust anybody. :cry :

Ew, okay, that does take away some of the appeal.

How incredibly juvenile. Seriously, that's pretty ridiculous.

1. A conversation with one of these parents who act like their kids' misbehavior is a virtue. Sample:

Me: Yes, he's very bright but he is really showing a bit of a negative attitude. He talks back, doesn't want to follow directions, and is pretty disrespectful sometimes.

Parent: Oh yes, he definitely has an attitude!

(another parent during a similar conversation): Yeah, she definitely has a mouth on her! That's my baby, always gonna say what she want to!

I guess what really annoys me is not being able to say, "So if you know your child has this issue that is highly likely to be detrimental to her/his future success (or life expectancy if they ever leave this podunk town for a real city), WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU TAKE STEPS TO CORRECT IT?!"

2. Discovering that water is leaking around one of my kitchen windows during tonight's rain.

I wouldn't say either one trashed my whole day, tho... 'cos as a rule I won't let anything do that. But the first definitely pissed me off, and the second is definitely worrisome in an "oh gawd what next" kind of way.
