The Final Countdown

Recommended Posts

No, not the badass 80s song by Europe, counting down until my 'big meeting' at my office tomorrow, whereupon I will undoubtedly be fired.

I'm still not sure how to feel. This job has been draining my life from me for the past 3 years, but, there's just some times where I REALLY love what I was doing.

And no, this is not paranoia, I was at the office on Tuesday where the president of the company told me to my face "I'm fucking sick of you". Yes, I admit, I fucked up, and this isn't anything new, and he has every right to can my ass, but the way they're going about it is just strange.

Tuesday morning, right after the "sick of you" comment, I was told that we were going to have a 'meeting' Thursday morning at 7am. The reason I didn't get canned on the spot was, he had to discuss it with a whole bunch of other people, all who will be present tomorrow morning.

Now, while that might sound like I still have some hope of a job, understand this: My assignments are put out on a schedule that is updated daily. I had yesterday off, because I worked over the holiday. I was scheduled to work in Howell this morning (I know this because before I left the office yesterday, I saw the schedule), but last night, I was sent NO information. by the time I realized what was going on, there was nobody in the office, so I started calling other people who would be "in the know." Nobody answered. Finally, I get ahold of my supervisor and friend who told me that HE hadn't gotten an assignment for me. He looked at the schedule and noticed, my name had been totally taken off for the week. Now, even if I'm off for day or on vacation, it would have my name on there, stating that I was off for the however many days.

The schedule changes daily. Hell, the schedule has a tendancy to change so often that I've gotten calls from my boss asking me WHERE I'm working. The one thing that doesn't change...the names on the schedule.

So. Tomorrow morning around 7am, we're going to have our 'meeting', and I'm going to be terminated.

I really don't have anything worthy to say. I just needed to type it out.

On one hand, this sucks. On the other hand, I'm about to have a shitload of free time on my hands.

Also, just for the hell of it, let me tell you that a girl that I've been after for no less than 5 years is starting to go after a good friend of mine, and all I can do is sit back and watch. She knows how I feel. She just doesn't feel the same way.

The last two days have pretty much sucked.

Ok, done with the moody....who wants to get drunk with me tomorrow. And yes, I'm serious.

Sorry for wasting your time, and sorry if the post seems a little disorganized, I'm just kind of watching things crumble away, and I'm posting my thoughts, with no editing.

That sucks, especially when you know it's coming and you get to wait...and stew over it. The one and only time I got fired went the same way. I knew I was going to get the ax, but I had no clue when. Hope things get better for you, and don't get discouraged.

even though knowing ahead of time is probally the worst atleast you have a bit of a heads up to develope a plan of attack to keep your self out of the red after the last paycheck comes.

Wishing you smooth Job change for a brighter happier future. :grouphug

Funny thing, nobody showed up for my 7am meeting. My secretary called the powers that be quite a few times, finally got one on the phone, and I was told to reschedule for tomorrow....after I waited for almost two and a half hours.

This is not going to go well.

doesn't seem they are in a hurry to get rid of you........ maybe they are not thinking of firing you but perhaps just reprimand... either wya i would explore other options while waiting as HH said why not peak in a few doors to see where the action is good.

Well, got there this morning, as scheduled. 3 out of the 4 people who were supposed to be here didn't show.

Just me and the boss.

"You know why you're here"

"yes"

"I'm sorry...I like you and all, but...just bring all your gear up here. We'll check it in"

That was what there needed to be a meeting for, and why I had to drive 60 miles (round trip) twice.

Anyhow, since I no longer work there, there's no harm in mentioning, I was a private eye.

I need to get back into videography.

But first, I need to find my smokes.

Actually I think those non disclosure agreements last even after you quit.

I hope they pay your gas bill and your time spent on the road.

Yes they do, however, it's not like I'm not allowed to talk about my job, I just can't talk about any case I've worked.......lest I be sued....BIG TIME.

It was more of "I hope nobody I worked with is reading this" than "I don't want to talk about what my job is"

And yes, they do pay gas and drive time....which is good, considering I've only had my van for 2 and half years, and already have 100,000 miles on it.

So, anyone want to make a video? I'm Avid certified, I used to work for a very large Newscorp...I mean, news station.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread....

I just figured I'd mention that:

After all this time, I'm still doing the same job, just for another company. I got a call earlier, thinking I was about to be fired from THIS job. Not for anything I did, but because business has been slow, and they've been letting people go.

I got kicked upstairs. For a couple weeks, at least.

Overall, it doesn't mean much, but for the time being it means that I get to NOT freeze to death during the day, I get to have a cushy office job, I get regular hours, I get a lunch break, I get a desk, and I get all the things normally associated with an 'office job'

Which has been my goal since I was 14.

I'll be turning 30 about a month from now.....

This is somewhat exciting. For me, at least. I don't expect anyone else here to really care.

That's good to hear. It also means they have confidence in you to possibly be in an upper management position. Wish you the best.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
