City Club & pagers & Cell Phones and NYE

Recommended Posts

Here's the sitch. Jon has to carry a pager this weekend for work. Chances are he won't get called, but he HAS to have it and be prepared to call in case a customer has a problem with a door.

DarkRacer has kindly offered to hold onto Jon's pager in case they won't let him bring it into the club. So we have that covered. If he gets a page, DR will let him know. Thanks a million, DR.

Here's where things get tricky. If he gets that call, he'll have to call the customer to find out if this is something he can talk them into waiting on (99% chance most of the time, saving him a trip out and the customer a HEFTY holiday-rates charge). But the point is, he needs to have a phone available.

Now, ordinarily, we never carry a cellphone anyway. The only reason we have one is Jon's shop gave him one to use for work. Since this is FROM work, we'd rather not bring it to CC and check it, knowwhutImean? And even if we did, would they let us call the customer anyway?

So here's the questions.

1) Is anyone already bringing a phone and checking it? And if so, would you mind letting us use it if we pay extra tip$ to the checkpeople?

2) Even if someone is willing to do this for us, would the security at CC let us make the damned call?

This is such a freaking pain in the ass.

Thanks for any input.

You are more than welcome to use my cellphone...

I don't think they will let you have a pager...I assume DR works there...

heh, that sucks...terrible timing to get a promotion

That's very cool of you to offer, Steve. Very. We both appreciate it. Thanks. =)

But I'm having to re-think all of this.

Jon won't hand the pager off to anyone, can't take the chance of a call being missed or it being lost, and I guess I don't blame him.

This is such a freaking pain in the ass.

Not a problem. Despite popular opinion, I'm not an asshole. Just a know-it-all fuck. :p

Killer Bunnie has hooked us up. We'll be asking for Ron at the door, who, upon mention of KB's name, should work things out for us.

They do allow pagers, so that's not a problem. We'll be bringing Jon's cellphone and checking it (would have taken you up on the offer, Steve, but there's a matter of having to possibly make several calls, including possibly out of state - DDH does business in Ohio and as far north as Port Huron, etc.). In case he does get paged, KB thinks Ron will have no problem letting Jon call from the stairwell. So we're all set.

By the way, the corset I'm wearing has no formed cups or underwire, and fits my body very smoothly. Anything shoved under the boobies will SHOW. And other hiding places will be used for... other things tonight. :wink

See ya's there. Hopefully ALL night. If, by chance, Jon DOES get called away on a repair, I won't spend NYE without him. Never have, never will.

What's up with City not allowing cell phones anyway? It annoys me. I have kids. I hate not having my cell on me.

I've been wondering that for quite a while myself and haven't gotten a very good answer. One answer I got was something to do with camera phones, but I don't buy it because I see people with freaking cameras all the time.

Thats not it anyhow (cameras are banned anyway but you can sneak anything in).

That rule has existed before camera phones did.

If I owed a club I would figure that if pagers and cells came into the scene that you'd open the doors to a lot of drug traffic. At least they TRY to control anything getting in...whenther it works or not oh well. I can't stand the idea of being in a drug den man...that's just something nasty waiting to happen.

i always assumed it was because the phones interferred with the speakers. ever hear a phone that is about to ring make that noise through the speakers?? might not be their reason why really but that is what i assumed anyways.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No other club bans them though. I find it odd.

That's Nextel phones and it only effects cheap/unshielded speakers.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah and what do you think they have for speakers in there? They sure as hell aren't top of the line. Actually someone once told me they thought they were made out of mammoth hide, mud, and sticks.

I was told that it interfered with the radios used by security.

The veracity of this statement, though, is questionable.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No it's not, it doesn't
