More like a pulse reading. Holy crap, I should NEVER see scary movies when I have to go home alone. I should have gone to see Memoirs of a Geisha. I felt like my heart was going to run a marathon without me.

It's not so much that it was SCARY, as it was fucking TENSE. I need to settle down a bit, and maybe fall asleep with a light on, because really tense movies like that make me feel all jumpy, and I don't have my dog tonight to growl at noises for me.

Anyone else see it?

I must say, the last quarter or so of it really gave me a few good laughs, just because it was so... full of justice, to put it as loosely as possible, but it only took away from the nervous jitters for so long, before I had to sit in my cold car while it warmed up in the dark parking lot.

Yeah, I know, I'm a big nervous pussy, I'm okay with that.

HELL YES I SAW IT!

When all those names get together to make a horror film you HAVe to see it if you're any kind of fan right? 1st off...it was really fun with a full house. Lots of shrieking, cringing, squirming and hopping in the seats is a blast to watch.

Tense...YIP it was tense. Greg Nicitero's f/x rocked! Tarantino's got something going here. Seeing Takashi Miike was a real tickle, I bet Quentin got him do do that!

I gotta say tho I saw enuff tits & ass to last me the rest of my 30's indeed oh my gawd! :woot: They had all the wonderful accents right with all the different dialects it would have been hard to pick out which was which but they were crystal clear.

Where'd they find these 2 guys anyway? The nerd was naturally my fav but the lead wasn't exactly what I would have chosen to run the film.

Didn't you love those kids??? Whoa!

(Pharoh's mad at me for not waiting to take him but ...I'll go again  )

******WARNING, SEMI-SPOILERS AT THE END OF THIS MESSAGE*******

I forgot all about the tits and ass by the time I got home... I think the whole first half of the movie was just tits and ass. Not that I'm complaining.

Russian chicks are hot.

Saechalyn, do it! but uh... don't go home alone! Unless you're awesome like Saephyr. Yeesh. I'm not sure what made me go see this movie and not see "saw." I'm glad I did, don't get me wrong, but my creep-o-meter must be malfunctioning.

The scene that I kept seeing in my head before bed and when I woke up was the ball-gag/vomit scene. Gross. And when he was on that cart, I kept worrying "he's going to chop him up, there's no hope, he'll never escape!" Which is really what I expected. It's those desperating moments, where there's nothing you can do, that really get to me. One of my greatest fears is of dying by not being able to breathe, like drowning, or being smothered.

Is it really possible/likely that the whole time she was in that car, the asian girl didn't look in the damn mirror? Especially when they were getting into it, or escaping from it?

I didn't realize the damned thing had opened until I passed a theater yesterday with the title on the marquee.

I have been reading about it for awhile, but I can say, I haven't seen a trailer, or anything.

Was it really that good? it sounded like a decent enough idea, but...sometimes the execution isn't up to par.

That, and I am hesitant to see anything that has Tarantino attached to it in anyway.

Yeah I know what you mean... I went to see Saw (insert seesaw joke here) by myself, and that was dumb.  Really dumb.  Hopefully I will not be dumb again.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

lol, good call. me neither!

hmmm... I dunno if "good" is the word I'd use. It scared me, but I wasn't exactly impressed by the story itself, and it was more like a very short scary film surrounded by long segments of tits and everyday revenge oriented action.

This movie was such a waste of money....

the first 45min is just naked girls and the three stupid american kids trying to get laid and stoned.

then it has potential... for a minute... that quickly fades when they get to the Hostel.

THen it turns to the three kids trying to get laid and disappearing. But there was NO suspense at all. Just them gettign drunk, laid by these euro girls and going missing one by one...

Yes there was tons of gore... but gore does not even in the least make a movie. The gore wasnt even that good. They even cut parts out that you WANTED to see (lke a toe getting cut-off or how an eyeball gets pulled from its scket). It needed more violence... more abuse over gore. I think House of Wax did the violence/gore better than this peice of crap and House of Wax remake was terrible.

I went with 8 people and half of us almost fell asleep. Not one of the 8 liked the movie.

But then again... the director of Cabin Fever did this movie and if yo saw that you'll understand how bad this one can be.

I guess I liked it so much because I'm a FAN of horror not a critic.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Im a GIANT horror fan. I stay away from doing movie reviews for MarsDust becasue I dont want to be a critic. I have probably 65 horror movies on dvd from black n white classic, cult favorites, and new releases. I just cant stand the lack of scare lately. Some have such perfect story lines and just ruin them by throwing in as much gore as they possibley can. I want more SCARE again. I want to be clutching the sides of my theatre seat again.

lots of blood and guts does not make a horror movie.

need an example of what I mean? Poltergeist... Violence, terror, suspense... and practically no blood. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) is rather bloodless as well... and thats one of the KING horror flicks in my eyes.
